StewMac Seam Separation Wedge
Redesigned by our Techs, this wedge-shaped blade safely opens glue joints without cutting into the wood. It's the ideal tool for removing tops, backs and more from most instruments.
The stiff high-carbon steel blade has a long thin edge that is capable of cleanly entering narrow cracks for separating a glue seam. We've purposely designed the blade to be thin at the edge—but not sharp. This is crucial so the blade glides through the softened glue, and not into the wood grain.
The gentle wedge-shaped cross-section exerts the ideal pressure to help the glue yield, making it easier to separate the pieces. The blade can be heated and moisture applied to help speed the work. We recommend our Fretboard Removal Wedge for removing fingerboards safely.
