8" Radius Blocks

About This Item

Accurately true or change a fingerboard's radius and level frets.
We make these hardwood blocks for use with Stikit Abrasives, to radius a fretboard quickly, accurately and without guesswork.

Shaping fingerboards: use 80 through 220-grit
Leveling frets: use 220 through 400-grit

When working on compound radius fretboards, simply change blocks as you progress along the neck.

Dimensions: 8" (203.20mm) long x 2-3/4" (69.85mm) wide

See our shorter blocks for spot leveling, and for use as clamping cauls when gluing frets.

What's your radius?
Quickly find the curvature of a fingerboard or bridge with a set of radius gauges. Use them frequently to check your work as you smooth or shape a fingerboard or frets: a quick visual check keeps you from accidentally altering the shape—a mistake that's easy to make and hard to fix.

Good value

I have several of these. If you work on or build your own guitars you will need several. The price is good enough to have a few and not break the bank and they seem to be pretty precise. The 4" are great for using as cauls for gluing dovetail necks or clamping on fret boards for other reasons. They look like maple so they're nice and hard.

I had thought about buying these blocks for a while . I started out buying a couple different radius blocks , and a couple more in a month or two . So far I like what I see .

Great radius blocks!

This is a basic tool that keeps me from having to create from scratch. I'm considering "joining" the two I ordered to create a 16" block if possible. If sucessful, I will be able to cover a complete fingerboard prior to fretting. We shall see if this is possible.

Nice blocks. Please make a 15" for most Taylors

By

Most Taylor guitars have a 15" radius so it would be great if there was a 15" radius block available here. Still, most common sizes are available and in multiple lengths, so that's great.

These work well. I only have 1 but now I'm going to buy more while they are on sale 20% off.

Easier leveling

I first bought a set of these awhile back and used one to level a Squier I own.Being my first attempt at leveling, these blocks gave me a the confidence to tackle the job where I was really hesitant to attempt it with a beam, given my inexperience.I recently added the 14" to my set as I have 4 guitars with this radius that all need new frets and I'm getting ready to dive into that.Being that I live in the middle of nowhere,at least 3 hours from the nearest Luthier,I decided to start learning to do my own work, then discovered how much enjoyment I'm getting from that.Stewmac tools and the advice I have gotten from the techs at Stewmac have made this journey go easier, with fewer mistakes.Completely happy with everything I've purchased,as well as with the service.
