Southeast Technical College - Red Wing
Red Wing, Minnesota
An ancient art, a modern career.
"At Minnesota State College - Southeast Tech's Guitar Repair and Building program, we teach our students guitar repair and building as a career. Our program is designed to teach not only the skills involved, but also understanding of the instruments, their components, materials and acoustics. The very best people in our field are not only highly skilled at the craft, but also creative problem solvers. Repair work and instrument building constantly offer new opportunities to improve the way something is done or how well an instrument plays and sounds."
The 9-month program specializes in building, setup, and repair of acoustic and electric instruments. Optional 5-day workshops can focus on archtop constructions, electric guitar construction, and advanced finishing.
A career in lutherie starts with the right tools.
We serve leading lutherie schools by supplying their students with tools of the trade. The students benefit by owning and mastering specialized professional tools that will serve them well in their careers. Each school has developed a list of required StewMac tools that are essential to their coursework.
For the majority of aspiring guitarmakers who will never attend a lutherie school, these lists are valuable recommendations. Whether you're an apprentice, or starting out on your own, we make it easy to order the same tools trusted by veteran instructors.
