Spanish Cedar Neck Blank for Acoustic Guitar

Traditional hardwood for guitarmaking
Long used in building classical guitars, Spanish cedar carves and works very much like mahogany. Its stability and tonal qualities are also like mahogany. The fragrance will remind you of a new Martin guitar (their linings are Spanish cedar).

Not cedar, not from Spain
Despite its name, Spanish cedar is a hardwood from the same family as mahogany. It was used to build Martin and other parlor guitars from the 1850s until around 1916. Those builders switched to mahogany when it became easier to obtain, but they still use Spanish cedar, especially for necks.

Now big enough for two necks!
Quartersawn and kiln dried, our one-piece neck blanks are carefully selected for grain and color. You can build two acoustic guitar necks from one blank, and there's still plenty of wood for designs that require "ears" to widen the peghead.

  • Sized for an acoustic or archtop neck
  • One piece solid wood
  • Quartersawn
  • Kiln dried

Approximately 4" x 3" x 30" (102mm x 76mm x 762mm).
