3-On-Plate Waverly Machines for Solid Pegheads

About This Item

Modern precision, vintage style.
Waverly's elegant 3-on-plate tuners now made for solid pegheads.

Polished brass string posts are mounted on beautiful cast bronze engraved baseplates that age to a handsome patina with the look and feel of quality.

More efficient, for more precise tuning
16:1 design features our patented threaded worm bushings to eliminate looseness, for impressively smooth operation. You play in tune, and stay in tune.

Long life with less wear
Stainless steel worm gears have twin bushings. String post gears are machined from bronze alloy; more durable than brass.

Authentic knobs and string shafts
Black Ebony knobs are light weight and add a clean look to your guitar. Ivoroid knobs resemble real ivory, but are a durable non-animal alternative. Genuine mother-of-pearl gives the translucent Black Pearl knobs a luster that stands out from plastic imitations. Brass string shafts are 1/4"-diameter with 35mm/1-3/8" spacing.

Tuner set includes slotted, round-head mounting screws and knurled press-fit peghead bushings.

Fitted a 1930s Rickenbacher lap steel that desperately needed tuning machines. Fit perfectly, big bonus, the tuning pegs cleared the headstock with enough room to wind strings correctly. Highly recommended.

When these went on sale, I decided “why not” and they would be a nice addition to the StewMac OM “winter project” kit I am working on. Waverly is obviously very proud of their products, shipping them in a nice box, padded, opens up like something you’d get a decent watch in! These tuners will not be installed for a while, as I am just barely at the top bracing installation of the guitar body stage, a long way from the neck work, but since they seem to rarely go on sale, I’d thought it best to get them now. I’m very impressed with the fit, finish and function of these tuners, and feel like I definitely got my money worth from this purchase. I’ll be needing to plug the existing holes in the kit peg head as supplied and locate new holes for this tuner setup, but that’s all part of the challenge and fun of making the kit. What with the kit, tooling, and some upgrades, I’ve spent nearly what just buying a completed finished guitar would cost, but where is the challenge in that!
