Fret Slotting Table Saw Blade

About This Item

Fast and accurate! Now you can cut fret slots on your table saw or radial arm saw.

Labor saver!
Slot fingerboards quickly, cleanly and precisely, for any scale length, right on your own table saw. Ideal for production work, this is the same model 100-tooth high-topped steel blade we use here at our factory.

The outer edge of the .060" blade is specially hollow-ground to cut .023"-wide slots for our fretwire. This custom shape cuts more smoothly, and eliminates the need for an additional blade stiffener. 5/8"-diameter arbor required.

Blade dimensions
Diameter6"(152.40mm)
Thickness.060"(1.52mm)
Width of cut.023"(0.58mm) on the outer 1/4" (6.35mm) edge

Slot your own fingerboards quickly and precisely with our Fret Scale Templates and this saw blade.

Need help calculating your fret locations?
Our online fret scale calculator can calculate any scale length you want to use. It will also give you accurate measurements for locating the bridge on your instrument.

Great blade, made the job quick and very accurate

Spent a fair bit of time creating a sled for my table saw to make sure slots were cut perfectly (lots of YouTube videos out there on how to square the cutter). Managed to get perfect slots cut in about 15 minutes once everything was set up.

My only criticism would be that the bore of the blade is only 5/8" which was too small for my saw which has a 20mm arbour. I had to take it to the "saw doctor" to get it rebored. Might be good to have a larger bore and provide a reducer so that it caters for more arbour sizes.

I've been using this blade in my Steel City table saw and love it. I have one request, please make this blade in an 8 inch version!!! These smaller blades are NOT compatible with a SawStop table saw. It CANNOT be used with a SawStop table saw unless the blade is at least 8 inch in diameter. Since there is nowhere else to buy a larger version of this blade besides having one specially made (i'm currently on a 2 year waiting list for one), I'm sure you guys would sell a ton of these in an 8-inch version as well. I know the main difficulty is creating a larger blade that won't wobble in order to be able to cut a narrow kerf, but if you guys put this on the market, you will be the first and only distributor to offer this product.

Hi J,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I will pass your suggestion along to our purchasers and product development team. It's comments like yours that have been a catalyst for change in our products. Hopefully we can offer a version that is 8" in diameter in the near future.

Having been slotting boards using the manual saw and mitre jig (still excellent BTW). I recently had a batch of new builds to run through. I decided to give the table saw blade a run and glad I did. I made a simple slotting sled got the 4 boards lined up and was finished in a time that was almost quicker than setting up the manual mitre jig. Great time saver if you need to slot more than one board at time.

I purchased this blade last week. I built a mini sled for it.Squared it to the sled and was very pleased.
The slots are perfect and consequently the frets are too.

I completed cutting my fret slots in less than 5 minutes and they’re perfect. Build a nice sled for the table saw and you can’t go wrong.

I have a sawstop tablesaw and with a little piece of bent banding attached to my break it works just fine.however I bypass the breaking because if it were to activate it would not stop the blade, but will let the saw run.

Gee

I bought the blade. Built a sled. Discovered it won't work with the Saw Stop. I know there is a way to trick the saw by inserting a wire to trick the saw into believing it is a larger diameter blade. I am really frustrated because I gave away two great table saws to friends in order to make room for the larger and very expensive Saw Stop. Love the saw, but now I have to buy another saw and find space. Please let people know this does not work on a Saw Stop. I know the blade works because I used a friend's and that is why I bought one too. So, no problem on quality, just frustrated about not being aware.

Doesn’t work on Sawstop

The six inch diameter prevents use on a Sawstop table saw. It would work if it was 8”. Sawstop is a popular table saw brand so I recommend disclosing this limitation to save folks trouble.

This is the answer. With the fret rules this is the way to build a lot of fret boards in a hurry. Best choice I have made for making fret boards.
