Don't wait, this deal ends Monday, June 21, 2021 at 4:00PM ET.

Our sturdy base turns your Dremel into a compact plunge router—perfect for inlays, routing saddle slots, cleaning fret slots and more. The advanced design gives an unobstructed view of the cutting action

It's very simple to set the precision depth adjustment, then plunge and raise the bit exactly that amount. Each turn of the knurled micro depth stop gives approximately 1/32" of adjustment, to a maximum depth of one inch.

    Designed for stringed instrument work
  • Excellent control
  • Clear visibility
  • Maneuverable for accurate freehand work
  • Works with our Saddle Slotting Jig

Sturdy, compact, and adjustable
You can plunge-rout an inlay cavity that's precisely compensated for the thickness of the pearl and glue, for minimum sanding later.

The ball grips give you excellent control for freehand routing and easy operation of the plunge feature. The built in LED light bar gives you a fully lighted view of your work. There's even a built-in nozzle for attaching a Mini Air Pump to continuously blow away the dust—you'll rout inlay cavities more precisely, for a better fit requiring less filler.

Installation is easy.
Simply unscrew the threaded plastic collar on the nose of the Dremel, and screw on the Precision Router Base. Its 3/4-12 thread fits:
Dremel 100, Dremel 4000, 400XPR, Professional, MultiPro and most corded models made since 1986
Black & Decker Wizard and RTX
Our Foredom custom handpiece

Great Plunge Router Base

By

This is a well made tool, it works great but like others I found the light to be in a terrible place, it blocks the view, so I moved it to the back. I just had to drill the 2 mounting holes through to the other side and then tap them. I added a 6-32 nut as a spacer and longer screws to shim it out a bit but it now is perfect, the view is not obstructed at all.

I absolutely love this tool, you can pre set the depth thickness and use the micro adjust to sneak up on your depth. My favorite stew mac tool.

Should be great for line & berry work

I give the concept 5 stars although I have not had a chance to use it yet as other projects jumped ahead of the line & berry chests I'd like to make for my granddaughters. The plan is to make an attachable base plate with a custom guide bushing to use with templates for the line inlay work. I wanted something light, small, cordless (Dremel cordless machine), and able to do a plunge cut. Hoping this combination is the winner.

Nice fit and finish.

Works great. Love the lamp. Didn't think I would, but it really helps. It makes the view of the work area a little small for me, but I'm still getting used to it.

Replaces my original Stew-Mac router base

Much easier to adjust depth of cut than the old model. I like the round knobs on each side to lock the plunge feature. I did not like the light placement so I extended the bracket and it is much easier to see where you are routing. Over-all I really like this unit. I do wish I could hook a small vacuum tube to it instead of the air blower feature, but I guess you can’t have everything.

This tool is phenomenal. I had the Precision Router Base previously and I liked it, this one though, amazing! If it's in your budget to get this Plunge version do it! All the upgrades from the Precision base are worth it!

A precision tool

I have routed or re-routed (for pickup installations) at least 500 bridge slots with the original StewMac Professional Router Base. For rosettes and soundholes, I use a shop made circle cutter with a laminate trimmer. I recently had the need, however, to route and install soundhole rosettes on two carved top Irish bouzoukis, which I described to someone as inlaying a thin, flat rosette on a basketball. In an effort to make the task as easy as I could, I ordered both the new Plung Base for the Dremmel as well as the Rosette and Soundhole Routing Jig. I was amazed at the precision of both tools and especially the Plung Base. Using this combination of tools on an inclined work board, the job went as smooth as it would on a flat top! Looking forward to using the new Plung Base on bridge slots as well!

Useful in many situations

Easily the best router base for my Dremel that I've ever owned. The locking handle design makes setting a fixed routing depth fast and easy, and the adjustable depth stop allows for fine tuning depth on the fly a breeze. So far I've used this router base for installing 5th string banjo railroad spikes, cleaning up excess finish during a bridge re-gluing job, neatening inlay cavities and preparing split control cavity screw mounting areas for repair. Absolutely worth the price.
