This bit makes for an exact match for the hot rod truss rod.

Works perfectly with the Hot Rod truss rods. Take 1/8" deep passes, results in a very clean truss rod slot.

Good quality, and not only for the truss rods !

This router bit if very sharp, very good quality and works great, especially for truss rod channels. I also found out that it has exactly the same diameter as the Zipper Backstrip you can also buy from Stewmac. Good to know.

Works a treat. No more trying to get a snug fit with multiple passes with a 1/8" bit or table saw blade. Not cheap of course.

Unlike the 1/4" bit that I have been using, this one allows for a perfectly snug fit

Router bit for hot rod truss rod

I used the new bit on a couple of necks last week for the first time. I had been using my table saw which is OK, but not nearly as precise and clean as this bit. I'm not sure how long you've offered this bit, but I wish I'd found it sooner.

Its ok

Does the bit work? Yes. Does it work well. No. When I install a truss rod I take multiple cuts at different depths which is always recommended. A spiral up bit would be so more effective at clearing the channel. If you use this bit then the channel gets packed with saw dust and increases the friction in the channel.

Still too wide

I use a lot of Hot Rod truss rods (Viacali Guitars), and believe that it's important for the truss rod to fit SNUGLY in the slot in order to minimize any possibility of rattles. I have always used a 3/16" router bit, and taken multiple passes, to accomplish this.

After seeing all of these 5 star reviews, I tried this router bit. The slot it cuts is still too loose, IMO. The router bit is 0.225", exactly as described. The problem is that the brass blocks at the ends of the truss rod are 0.217", and the outer diameter of the red bars are 0.212".

I will keep on using my 0.188" router bit, even though it takes twice as many passes as this one.
