Soundhole Clamps

About This Item

These clamps reach where others can't. Ideal for clamping bridges and braces through a soundhole.

Our popular soundhole clamps feature strong steel frames, light weight and slim profiles for multiple clamping through the soundhole of a classical or steel-string guitar. Ideal for clamping bridges and braces through a soundhole. Available in four lengths. Leveling screw gives extra support for clamping bridges and braces. The 7", 9" and 11" models have a special leveling screw to help support the clamp's weight and prevent unwanted bending of the soundboard.

The shorter clamps give increased clamping coverage at the guitar's bridge and shoulder areas.

Our soundhole clamps also have knurled thumbscrews, height-adjustable jaw screws for clearance of internal braces, and jaw feet that swivel to conform to uneven surfaces (maximum opening is 1-7/8"). Each clamp is 1/2" (12.7mm) wide.

Prevent dents: Check out our Soundhole Clamp Cauls that snap onto the feet of these clamps for a larger clamping footprint, padded surface, and grooves that make it easier to clamp on braces.

Clampin' Champ!

When you've got the right tool for the job, expect success. That's exactly what I got when I purchased three of the 7" deep throat soundhole clamps to repair a bridge for a friend's acoustic bass. Being skilled with tools, I still took some time anyway to review some StewMac instruction videos for advice. I'm glad I did. I inspected some guitars from our church's praise team. Yup, more bridges to repair. Thanks, StewMac!

Three Clamps Set was just what I needed for bridge repairs. Only comment is that you could supply protective plastic stoppers if possible.

Stew Mac is the only place I'd go to.

Fine Traditional Bridge & More Clamp

These are , and have been for a long time, perfect clamps. Used mainly for bridge repair or installation. They are light, but the design makes them stiff and predictable. You are best off with these or the fiber reinforced "plastic" ones and the alloy Ibex, than with cam clamps. Before I switched to these, I did battle with wooden cam clamps. They have a necessary place in luthierie, but the natural physics of the cam slides a slippery, just-glued bridge out of place in many cases.

Very useful, even on an archtop.

My 72 year old Epiphone developed a long crack running due south along the grain from the bass side f-hole. While there's not much one can fix inside an archtop without removing the back, sometimes you get lucky. I reversed the bottom screw (the one without the knurled knob) and attached a caul to it shaped to the top's curve, and maneuvered it thru the widest part of the hole with the cleat lightly taped to the caul and glue applied. If you own old acoustic guitars of any shape, and don't live next to a good repair shop, you need at least one of these.

12 String Bridge

I just used my new 7” Soundhole Clamps on the re-glueing of a bridge on a Hofner 12 string. They were the perfect solution for a large bridge like this. It was the first time I used them and I’m totally impressed!! They are definitely a permanent fixture in my shop from now on.
