Preservation Polish

About This Item

Silicone-free and repair shop friendly, with no wax or silicone residues. 12-ounce bottle.

Preservation Polish gently cleans, polishes and protects lacquer and varnish finishes.

Ordinary guitar polishes shine by leaving a long-lasting silicone residue that's very hard to remove. If your guitar ever needs a repair, the silicone will prevent glue or finish from adhering, making even simple repairs more difficult and costly.

Simply apply Preservation Polish with a clean cotton cloth. It leaves no wax or silicone residues, so there's no cloudy film, stickiness or build-up. And it won't discolor the patina of vintage finishes.

Luthiers and repair shops: You've learned the hard way that guitars and silicone are bad company. Silicone residue makes it difficult for glue or finish to adhere properly and is a primary cause of "fisheyes" and cratering in lacquer finishes. It's even worse if silicone reaches bare wood or gets into the cracks of older finishes. Even the simplest finish repairs can become more difficult, time-consuming and costly. Do your colleagues a favor — use Preservation Polish and recommend it to your customers!

Best Cleaner I Have Ever Used Period

By

Verified Buyer

I have been working on guitars professionally for about ten years now. I have a spare room in my home solely dedicated for my bench and work area. During the last ten years I have seen many different types of guitars in many different states of cleanliness. I have also used many different products through the years to clean and polish my customers guitars. I have a new customer that has vintage gear coated in years of nicotine and DNA from gigging. None of the past products were doing the job to clean this guy's gear. I opted to try Stew Mac's Preservation Polish to see if it would handle the grime any better than other products I have used. I ordered a bottle of Preservation Polish in anticipation of his next project and he dropped of a 1970's Stratocaster today. Just like everything else he has brought me so far, it was filthy. I cracked open my new bottle of Preservation Polish and applied it today to the Strat. Night and day difference and performance compared to all of the cleaners and polishes I have used up to now. I will never use anything but the Preservation Polish from now on. If you do a lot of setups on filthy guitars, this is a must own product. It shaved hours off of my cleaning time. I'm a convert for life. Thank you, Stew Mac.

Works great on gloss and satin finishes

This is by far my favorite polish for my guitars. I have several matte/satin finished guitars that look amazing after using this stuff. Gloss finishes come out looking shiny and new. Will definitely buy more if I ever run out. A little goes a long way, though.

Preservation Polish

I bought this as a better choice to clean and polish guitar finish as opposed to regular "guitar polish." It does the job of cleaning and immediately polishing with a clean, cotton cloth (T-shirt). It did the job okay, but beware that it requires being used in a well vented area. The fumes are pretty strong compared to regular guitar polish.

Best polish!

I could not believe the dirt that this polish removed from my ten year old Boat Paddle ukulele. I was not aware of the grime that had accumulated and wasn’t visible to the naked eye, but the dirt buildup certainly came off on my chamois. Excellent product.

I bought this for my cello because since it has no silicone in it and it leaves it naturally shiny, I would recommend.

I've been using this as furniture polish for 20 years since a merchant gave me a sample when I bought an oak dining set which looks like new, except for a couple of human caused scratches
