StewMac Modern Soapbar P-90 Pickups
We've captured the soul of these iconic pickups and added a few tweaks for modern players to create the versatile P-90s ever.
The new standard for replacement pickups
One of the earliest pickup designs, P-90s have a wonderful, warm tone that is equally suited for clean jazz and overdriven rock. Loaded with Alnico 5 magnets, the balanced tone is bright but not harsh, and the bass is rounded and never muddy.
Versatility for every player
We took these up a notch by potting them for quiet operation—a must have for overdriven tones. The poly-coated wire also gives the pickup a smoother sound. The fiber flatwork also looks great for installations with the covers removed.
Each pickup is custom-wound for neck and bridge positions. The bridge is wound hotter for a more balanced tone and output.
By player request—all the tone and no hum!
The neck position is reverse wound/reverse polarity (RWRP) for hum cancellation in the middle position. For vintage non-hum-canceling wiring, use two "original" bridge pickups.
Direct replacement design
StewMac P-90s are drop-in replacements in Gibson® Les Paul® Juniors, SG® Juniors, and SG® Specials, plus archtop and semi-hollowbody Gibsons® made for P-90s. And they're great choices for custom builds.

There have always been slight variations in the color of the cream plastic parts used on Gibson and other guitars. It's not uncommon to see brand new and vintage guitars with bindings, pickup rings, toggle switch rings and pickguards that don't perfectly match in color. We do our best to match all our cream products, but there's no absolute control from batch to batch, or from supplier to supplier.
