CTS Push-pull Pots, DPDT

About This Item

Add a switch without adding a hole. Sized to fit more guitars.
On these top quality CTS control pots, the switch contacts are on the side, not the back. This makes them shorter, so they'll fit most guitars without routing—only 1" cavity depth is needed.

The double-pole double-throw switch adds lots of wiring options. Pull the knob to coil-cut a humbucker, switch a pickup in/out, or control anything: the switch is electrically separate from the control pot.

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS worked with StewMac to create these unique control pots. In addition to their space-saving size, they feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered elsewhere.

Their precision audio taper gives smoother, more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. The volume swells evenly from 0 to 10, with no abrupt changes.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. The long shaft #0229 fits Les Paul® and other carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

Cts pull pots

Great in theory, I mean FABULOUS, BUT: the tab strip breaks when you bend the tab, say, to solder it to the outside of the pot or even bend it 90° for whatever reason. Then the pot is useless unless you take it apart and do microsurgery soldering to fix the trace. Those strips should not break when you bend the soldering lugs. I have a drawer full of dead new cts pots that are brand new otherwise. That's why I buy them 2 at a time. If I knew I would have to reorder them so many times due to breakage, I would have gladly paid the 39.95 for the free shipping. I must have spent 100.00 on shipping alone so far. You really should tell CTS about this problem. Unreinforced circuit board material does not cut it. They should be fiberglas or something that doesn't just snap when you bend the tab. I hope this helps someone. I think you guys owe me one. (Or 8)
Thanks, Roger Lyness.

Semi-hollow beware

I'm sure these are excellent, so I'm giving them 5 stars. However, they did not fit through the f-hole on my 2017 Epiphone ES-335 Pro

Brilliant! Buy it!

What can I say? The same 10% tolerance CTS pots we all know and love, but with a DPDT pull-switch for your switching needs. It doesn't get better than this.

I use 10% CTS pots for Tone controls because they stay put wherever you set them and 8% Emerson Pro CTS pots for Volume controls because they move so effortlessly.

If StewMac would only start selling CTS Blend pots, I would be a VERY happy luthier. (StewMac: Are you listening?)

Nice compact design

By

Verified Buyer

This pot has a nice, compact design that fits into shallow control cavities without any need for routing; a nice amount of tension when turning these, will stay in place when you set it, but still very smooth. Please be aware that you may need to expand the holes in your control cavity to accommodate these, but this is easy to do with a circular file and a little care and patience.

Works great in my Tele!

By

I installed this push-pull pot in my '96 Fender Tele to split the bridge position humbucker for single coil tones. Works like a charm! Nice smooth motion when I pull the tone knob out or push it back in and there is zero noise. I went to the Seymour Duncan web site to to see how to correctly wire my pickup for coil split action and followed the wiring instructions for this CTS push pull pot. It was easy and took me less than 1/2 hour to complete the job (granted, swapping out a pot and testing it on a Tele is much easier to do than any other guitar I can think of!). I'm a player, not a guitar tech guy, and I rarely do these kinds of mods. So if I can do it, anybody can do it. Happy camper. Seems like a good product.

CTS Pots

Good upgrade potentiometer for import guitars. Used them on am Epiphone SG G400 Pro. Widened the control holes with a tapered reamer in about 5 minutes and stuck with the stock pickups. Made a huge difference in tone along with the Orange Drop caps I installed.

Well, this is my first time using CTS pots for any of my builds.. I have good hopes, since I've heard so much about them... StewMac provided me the chance to use these, with their low price... Hopefully, more to come..

These pots are smooth, and have a linear taper. The switch is super handy for coil-tapping, series/parallel, or whatever else you want to do.

Excellent push-pull pots but...

Love these pots. They're big, which I like. Just be careful when you wire them that you don't push the wire too far into the holes, as this can cause hard-to-see solder bridges or unwanted connections to ground.
