Recommended Tools and Supplies

The following tools and supplies will help you make your guitar/bass building project fun and rewarding. Most are common, but you may have to borrow/buy a few specialized items.

Tools

  • #4895 Fret Hammer
  • #3799 Straight edge; 24" long
  • #0677 Masking/binding tape
  • #4894 Rule, 6" with 16th, 32nd, and 64th increments
  • #3316 SAE Hex keys
  • #3317 Metric Hex keys
  • #0097 Drill bit set/index (1/16" - 1/2" in 1/32" or 1/64" increments)
  • Good quality Phillips and blade type screwdrivers. You will need several sizes.
  • Soldering iron/pencil (25-45 watt)
  • Drill (3/8" chuck, variable speed/reversible is desirable)
  • Tape measure
  • Center-punch or awl
  • #1605 Wire cutters/stripper

Supplies

  • Sharp pencil
  • Sharpie or permanent marker
  • Notepad
  • Small diameter rosin-core solder
  • Electrician's tape
