Shaped Braces for J-45 Guitar

The secret to the tone of sloped-shoulder dreadnoughts! Made of quartersawn Stika spruce, these pre-shaped braces are period-correct and provide the perfect start to your next sloped-shoulder style build.

A timeless heritage, an unmistakable sound
Originally introduced in 1942, Gibson’s® J-45® quickly made a name for itself as a dependable workhorse with a sweet, mellow, balanced sound. Known as a “sloped-shoulder” dreadnought on account of its rounded, sloping upper bought, this style of dreadnought has been played by some of the biggest names in music. James Taylor, Elvis Presley, and Bruce Springsteen and countless other have relied on this acoustic guitar shape to craft their sound.

The foundation of your build
Bracing is critical when you’re chasing this signature sound for your next build. These braces come pre-shaped and period-correct, making it easy to create the strong, natural tone that is a hallmark of the sloped-shoulder dreadnought. The soundboard braces are shaped for a 25-foot radius and the back braces are shaped for a 15-foot radius.

Pair these braces with a spruce soundboardmahogany back and sides, and mahogany neck for that true, vintage sloped-shoulder vibe.

  • Quartersawn Sitka spruce with cross-grained maple back strips
  • Pre-shaped to vintage Gibson® spec
  • Soundboard braces shaped for a 25-foot radius
