Gotoh Staggered-Height 6-In-Line Tuners

About This Item

Eliminates string trees for better tuning.
With different string post heights, each string gets ideal downward tension behind the nut. No need for string tree hold-downs or their interference with vibratos.

Vintage-style stamped gear housings, oval metal knobs and smooth, precise operation.

"I've had these on my Strat for nearly 10 years, and couldn't be happier. Eliminating the string tree improved my tuning stability, even with a tremolo."
—Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Staggered Height Tuners

By

Verified Buyer

I've used these on my Telecaster builds, eliminating the string tree, and improving the accuracy of and range of the tuners. Stew Mac gracefully replacced a set that I was sent by mistake that was only same height tuners. Highly recommended as an upgrade to Telecaster or Stratocaster guitars. Thanks StewMac.

These are VERY nice tuners

I like these tuners for so many reasons--the precision of the gearing, the way they fit, the staggered heights and the way the different string gauges fit in the ends of the tuners. I so much like the way these tuners never have sharp strings protruding and gouging up the inside of my gig bag, and ripping up my fingers

Gotoh Staggered-Height 6-In-Line Tuners

Installed on a new USA Guitars neck.
The tuners fit snug on the neck, no issue with the tuners, just the way the neck was cut.
Have not yet did the final set with the screw, but see no issues with that.
Tuners are made in Japan, and seem to be constructed well.

Fine, but came with 5.

The tuners are fine, but initially came with 5 in the package. I told the customer service representative that I wasn't Kieth Richards, and he promptly sent me a new set and return label for the short set.

Amazing tuners!

These are without question the finest vintage style tuners out there. I dumped the vintage style lockers as they seemed more trouble than they're worth for me. I believe the original split style tuner to be one of the best designs ever. Not only are they staggered, the holes are also graduated so they hold the string much better when restringing. Only issue I had was the bushing size was incorrect for the new 10.5 mm holes Fender is using and the old bushings had the wrong ID. Other than that absolutely perfecto!

Best In My Book

These tuners are simply the best.

The split top pegs allow fast neat string changes. I experienced this on my second Stratocaster that had this feature back in the 1960's. My string changes were weekly, and it became incredibly quick, sometimes just before a gig. You get very professional looking results, too.

I recent years I have purchased these Gotoh tuners. They not only have the split peg, but they look vintage and provide very smooth operation. They are an improvement operationally speaking from the old vintage ones.

Modern necks may or may not have the same size peg hole, but the adapter bushings work and look fine.

The bushings are too small for a fender classic player (mexico) neck. About 1/3 of the concave profile on the tuning shaft is below the face of the bushing when installed.

Drop In Replacement - John Mayer Fender Stratocaster

I wanted to eliminate string trees like the Eric Johnson Strat on my John Mayer Strat and also benefit from the 15:1 ratio. These dropped right in and are nice and snug. I cannot believe the tuning improvement! I put on new strings and the guitar was keeping tune in no time! Awesome product!

These dropped straight in to the footprint of the Gotoh Kluson style tuners on my Fender Custom Shop '56 strat. No drilling, filling, reaming. They work great, too!

My favorite tuners!

I love these tuners! I have always loved the vintage style tuners, due to their simplicity, clean looks, & the wire fed through the center hole. Gotoh takes it a step further & staggers the post height to eliminate the need for string trees! I love this design & use it as often as I can. These are the easiest to install & perform the best, in my opinion. Just an added tip, make sure your hole spacing is drilled perfectly, there is hardly any room for errors when installing these.
