Gotoh Magnum Lock-Trad 3+3 Tuners

About This Item

Traditional thumbscrew-style locking functionality with Gotoh technology.

Pull the string taught through the tuner hole, and with a twist of the thumbwheel the string is locked into the post. Just a few turns of the tuner knob and you're up to pitch. Since there's just a partial wrap of string around the post, tuning stability is dramatically improved. Locking tuners are excellent for non-locking tremolo guitars, and for players that do heavy string-bending.

Rock Solid string posts eliminate looseness and reduce backlash for improved tuning stability. No more wobbly string posts to cause tuning problems.

The Lubri-Coat process electro-coats the gears with a special polymer layer. This eliminates the need for oil and keeps the lubrication where it’s needed, for the life of the tuner.

Excellent product. Put on a Yamaha acoustic and I’ve already seen positive results.

Popped right in

These were a direct replacement for the crummy stock tuners (which went out of tune almost every time I did a bend) on my Epiphone Les Paul 100. It was so easy to swap them in that even I could do it with no curse words whatsoever. They fit perfectly.

It is simplicity itself to change strings now, and I can happily bend to my heart's content without going out of tune. Most excellent.

62 reissue SG (2014) machine heads replaced

Excellent tuners. I purchased a SG new in 2014, and put off replacing the standard Gibson tuners for way too long. Rarely would the guitar stay in tune for more than a full song, especially the 'g" string. Although the Gotoh single screw hole does not match perfectly to the existing hole, the threaded sleeve fit perfectly through the tuner hole, and holds the post tight and firm. I decided not to fill/re-drill holes. Stays in tune perfectly. I use D'Addario 10-46 strings)

These locking machine heads  are nice! They dropped right into my 80’s takamine.

Only a screwdriver and wrench were needed. They seem to be almost as nice as the Schaller which don’t fit this guitar without modifications.

No extra drilling required. These are better than the stock Gibson tuning machines. Such a great upgrade.

Smooth replacement job!

I bought to replace my worn out Grovers on my '70 Les Paul Standard. I had to ream out the holes a little bit for the posts but, the screws went into the old holes. Great replacement!

Seagull Maritime TunersUpdate

I had read many complaints on the Internet about the tuning pegs problems on Seagull guitars. My guitar, 2019 Maritime, had tuning problems from day one, hard turning, very frequent need of tuning and taking too many turns to reach the final tuning, I contacted Seagull customer support and got zero support on getting upgraded tuners. So, I purchased the Gotoh tuners from StewMac.

The Gotoh tuners are smooth and precise. They are a direct replacement for the original Seagull tuners ( made by Ping so I am told). No need for modifications to the headstock because even the retaining screw hole is exactly in the correct location. After pulling the string taunt and locking the string down, the peg rotates only 1/4 to 1/2 turn to reach fully tuned. As long as the temp and humidity remain constant the strings stay in tune.

I used Fender Locking tuners on my Tele American Special and they are so much better than the originals. Used some Grover 301 tuners on my Taylor GS-Mini and they are superior to the originals. I have learned a lesson “purchasing lower costing guitars might require tuner updates”.
