Waverly Hand Engraved Banjo Pegs

About This Item

The premier planetary tuners. Vintage Waverly styling is paired with deluxe appointments throughout: gold plated finish, hand-engraving, adjustable knob tension, and genuine mother-of-pearl knobs. Precision 1:4 ratio gears with sealed lubrication ensure smooth, effortless operation with ZERO play. Originally produced for Martin and factory installed on their $100,000 OM-45 De Luxe Authentic 1930 model guitar.

There is a reason the worlds foremost luthiers and musicians have been choosing Waverly for nearly 100 years: they're quite simply the best tuners made. The banjo has to be in tune before you can truly hear the tone—why trust such an important job to anyone but Waverly?

The brass string post has the original taper for proper string angle over the nut. The threaded hex bushing has a tapered washer to help protect the peghead finish.

Sold as a set of 4. Also available in a set of 6 for guitar.

Required peghole diameter: 3/8" (9.52mm)
Peghead thickness: 7/16" to 3/4" (11.11mm x 19.05mm)

I got these for a 1927 BellaVoce. The Planets from that time are frequently kaput.
Yes these Waverlys are smooth and hold pitch very nicely, smoothly even with the light touch possible. Yes the engraving pattern while not very "delicate" is sparkly. Yes for that I'm grateful.
No, the presumption to fool anyone that these might be non-planetary offsets because of the asymmetric shape is to me dishonest, unnecessary. Waverly could have instead made the case wider and flatter if they wished to capture an antique look. No, the engraving does not match the delicate/intricate engraving of the 20's 30's Granadas BV's and Florentines imo. At least there is some. Where was Greg Rich's good taste when Waverly was planning this? My severely plain gold Keith pegs look out of place next to the Waverlys. Now there would be a place for joint engraving. Waverly at least once did make a matching engraved fifth string peg. And I got one. No MOP and I had to get my copy a year later online from a guitar shop. The demand may be small but it's there. No donut for Waverly's bean counter.

Super nice!

I bought these to go on a gold engraved banjo and they fit right in, they look great, the engraving and the pearl buttons are first class. They also work, very smooth to operate, and they tune accurately. I wish they had a 5th string tuner to match.
