Waverly Banjo Tuning Pegs

About This Item

Inspired by the unique pegs used on prewar Gibson Florentine, Bella Voce and Granada banjos, and Martin OM guitars in the '20s and '30s.

Waverly's distinctive machined brass "2-Band" offset gear case and grained ivoroid knob will bring a handsome vintage touch to your banjo.

The best of vintage design and modern craftsmanship.
Smoother than the originals, thanks to 4:1 planetary gears, sealed lubrication, low-friction bushings, internal tension spring, leather knob washer and adjustable knob tension.

The brass string post has the original taper for proper string angle over the nut. The threaded hex bushing has a tapered washer to help protect the peghead finish.

For 7/16" to 3/4" (11.11mm x 19.05mm) peghead thickness. 3/8"-dia. pegholes required.

"Waverlys are smooth, accurate, and dependable."
—Sammy Shelor, The Lonesome River Band

"Very efficient and smooth banjo pegs. I highly recommend them."
—Tony Trischka

Great Tunerd

I replace the tuners that have been on my banjo since the ‘50’s. It’s like getting a new banjo. I am really partial to the Waverly tuners. They make a great cracker too.

The most suitable replacement tuning pegs.

In restoring a 100 year old Vega "Little Wonder" tenor banjo which came with friction pegs, I decided to use the Waverly pegs because of their smooth operation (I have used them before) and their offset gear box. I installed them so that the offset gear box is away from the edge of the smaller-than-usual peg head. They look good and work well.

Best choice not only for vintage banjos

My Epiphone Recording Artist tenor banjo from 1928 is all original (besides strings, head, and bridge). But some time ago I had problems with one one of the Grover De Luxe tuning pegs. I solved the these problems with installing a set of the Waverly Banjo Tuning pegs. I must say: The best choice I made. The tuners work smooth and accurate. And you can depend on them. Try them and you will love them!

Exactly Right Thing

Terrific tuners. In this case, replacing antique Grovers that still worked, but just barely, on ancient tubophone 4 string. Wow, what a difference and I didn't even have to enlarge the hole. Perfect. I had the banjo refretted a couple of years ago but was reluctant to replace the original tuners - amazing, it's an extraordinary instrument now. Wish I had done it sooner.

Waverly Banjo Tuning Pegs Warranty

By

I installed a set of Waverly banjo tuners on my 1922 Fairbanks Vega banjo in 2008. In 2020, twelve years later, one of the four pegs failed. I was advised by StewMac to send a photo since there is a lifetime warranty on them. Sure enough, a few days later I received a new set of four beautiful Waverly Tuning Pegs! I am very impressed and feel grateful to both StewMac and Waverly.
