Rickard Cyclone High Ratio Tuning Pegs for Banjo with Ivoroid Knobs, Set of 4
The latest innovation in banjo tuner technology
Using an exclusive cycloidal gear design, these 10:1 ratio tuners keep your banjo in tune gig after gig.
Banjos are hard to keep in tune! The unwound strings are prone to slip, and most banjo tuners have only a 4:1 ratio. Renowned banjo maker Bill Rickard saw this problem and knew he needed a better solution for his custom banjos.
New cycloidal gear for unparalleled tuning accuracy
To solve these persistent tuning problems, Rickard rediscovered an old technology for this new tuner: the cycloidal gear. Used in clocks for centuries, the unique gear gives these tuners unrivalled accuracy and precision.
Unlike other banjo tuners, these revolutionary tuners have a much higher gear ratio (10:1), and absolutely no backlash. The gear always has three points of contact internally, essentially locking the post in place. And, these tuners don't need tension screws or leather washers to keep the string from slipping—the gear holds everything tight.
Timeless design and looks
This high performance design keeps the same looks as a traditional tuner, so they'll feel right at home on any vintage or new banjo. The high quality plating and well-crafted knobs will give you a lifetime of solid performance.
The Ivoroid knobs are machined from Galalith, a dense and durable casein-based material that polishes beautifully. It resembles real ivory, but is a non-animal alternative.
For pegheads 7/16" to 3/4" (11.11mm x 19.05mm) thick. 3/8"-diameter pegholes required. The threaded hex bushing includes a washer to help protect the peghead finish. Set of 4.
