StewMac Brace Repair Jack

About This Item

A better way to glue loose braces
Insert through the soundhole and turn with your fingertips for clamping braces, bridge pads and patching cleats.

Luthiers asked for a stronger, faster, easier brace jack, and our R&D team delivered!

  • Heavy brass body stays put as you adjust the height
  • Sturdy machined brass threads—no wobbling
  • Glue-resistant end caps are double-notched

The double-notched end caps fit the two most common brace profiles: the gentle slope of Martin braces and the more triangular shape found on Gibsons. The caps are made of glue-resistant high density polyethylene.

Adjusts from 2-7/8" (73mm) to 4-3/8" (111mm).
7/8"-diameter (22.23mm) caps are glue-resistant high-density polyethylene.

Handy tool

The brace repair Jack proved to be a handy tool. I need it to repair a multitude of loose back braces on a Taylor guitar. It was great for the top 3 braces, but tricky to get on and locate on the bottom back brace. A big thanks to Stewmac for replacing a faulty one, they sent me another in
supper quick time and without any fuss. ??

Feels sturdy and works great .
I glued a brace that was loose on a nylon string guitar and it was easy to set on the exact spot

Although I o not have an actual project presently, from manipulating the jack I see no reason it shouldn't work well.

They are not quite as good as the older model. They only adjust from 1 side, not both. But its still functual.

I was on the fence...

Did I really need this? Can I use clamps instead? Can I prop up the top with scrap wood? Sure I could...but I am glad I got this. I found it especially useful to provide internal structure when using ruck plates as weights/cauls for complicated glue-ups that need even, widespread pressure. By the way, it's no smart or safe to use ruck plates when fixing guitars...but it works for me :)
