Gluing a bridge is one of the most delicate steps in a build or repair, and one of the easiest places for things to go wrong.
Bridge Vacuum Clamp replaces traditional clamping setups with fast, even pressure across the entire bridge surface. No cauls to shape, no uneven clamping force, just consistent results you can trust.
Designed by luthier and instructor Robbie O'Brien, this system gives you a more controlled, repeatable way to glue bridges with confidence.
Why vacuum?
Traditional bridge clamping relies on a handful of pressure points. Even with well-made cauls, it is easy to introduce uneven force, especially across a curved top.
Vacuum clamping distributes pressure evenly across the entire bridge footprint. The flexible membrane conforms to the top, applying consistent force exactly where it is needed.
It is especially effective for hot hide glue glue-ups, where open time is short and everything needs to come together quickly. With vacuum, you can get full, even pressure in seconds, helping ensure a tight joint before the glue begins to gel.
Even pressure across the entire bridge
A flexible silicone blanket conforms to the bridge and top, distributing pressure uniformly across the full footprint. That means better glue contact, fewer voids, and a stronger, more reliable joint.
How it works
- Position the bridge and hold briefly until the glue begins to tack
- Apply the vacuum clamp and confirm alignment
- Clamp for 10 minutes, then remove the clamp to clean up any squeeze-out
- Reapply the clamp for 1-2 hours
Built for the realities of the shop
The lightweight frame is easy to handle and built for everyday use, with a sealed neoprene base that holds vacuum securely. Stainless steel hardware resists corrosion, and standard 1/4" fittings connect easily to most shop vacuum systems.
With the correct size, you get better control, better pressure distribution, and more consistent results.

#105056 for Ukulele Bridges
Sized specifically for ukulele bridges, allowing the vacuum to concentrate pressure exactly where it is needed. Using a larger clamp on a smaller bridge can spread that pressure over too wide an area, reducing effectiveness and making precise placement more difficult.

Recommended vacuum pump
This clamp does not include a vacuum pump. We recommend a continuous-run vacuum pump rated at 1.4 CFM or higher to maintain steady pressure throughout the glue-up.
