Mojotone Amplifier Chassis Stand

About This Item

Service and build your amp like a pro
Mojotone's Amp Chassis Stand holds your amp the right way.

Working on your amp is difficult. There are fragile turret and PC boards, circuit traces, and tiny eyelets that are hard to see. You need a solid stand to make clean solder joints and lay out the best signal flow. This stand holds the chassis in place, with or without tubes, so you can fix issues and install components easily.

Work on your amp safely
The Mojotone Amp Chassis Stand is made of Baltic Birch so that it will not conduct current, a danger when working on amps. It's height and width are adjustable to hold nearly any amp chassis (up to 29-3/4" long). Each side locks in place to ensure your amp won't move during work. You can also change the angle of the chassis 180 degrees to get the perfect view. Essential for amp building.

Be your own amp tech with Mojotone's Amp Chassis Stand

A must have

I had a home made version of this but the Mojotone one blows that out of the water. It's well built, easy to use and works even on my yba3 custom special, which is extra long.

If you work on amps you should have this.

Works great - way better than my old method !

This will help a lot toward keeping scope probes and meter leads organized during adjustments etc.. I added some pencil lines on the bed to help tap the ends into the center of gravity balance zone. And added some lines on the end plates to speed up getting the tilt equal on both ends - better than just eye-balling it or using a level or protractor. Clamps give some extra reassurance on days when I might get in a hurry ;-)

MOJOTONE AMPLIFIER CHASSIS STAND - QUALITY CONTROL (1)

By

Verified Buyer

I recently purchased a Mojotone Amplifier Chassis Stand from StewMac. I was disappointed in the quality control of the device. Although this may seem petty, I expected perfection considering the price that I had paid. If you buy a new guitar, you would expect no dings, scratches or other imperfections, wouldn't you?

Response from StewMac

Good but with limitations

By

Verified Buyer

Think about this like a circuit board/eyelet board holder you may use for soldering, Same thing, securely holds an amp chassis so you can work on it. Great concept, particularly for amps or effects units that might have tube sockets or transformers hanging down that make the chassis hard to keep stable directly on the bench. I've found this holds chassis very securely and it's easy to adjust angle for best component access.
Things to think about: Some chassis just won't fit because of component placement. Some chassis have holes that will be hard to work with when held.
Also, and my main problem, this raises your chassis 6-8 inches (depending on the chassis design) higher off your workbench. This can make it harder to reach over and solder. And finally, it is big, takes up a lot of bench space that you might not have, measure carefully.
I'm using it and happy with it, but work with the limitations. I also realize I've used the word "chassis" more times in one 2 paragraph entry that I've ever one before....

Works good

I purchased this for a Brit Plex 45 kit build, It does work good, there are a few things that are difficult to do with it. That being said, maybe by the time I am actually done with my build I will have more experience using. I don't think I would of liked to try to build my amp without it though.

Works great after you have the chassis in there

The only problem with this tool is that when it is flat on the bench surface you cannot move the pieces that hold the chassis because they are hitting the bench. I would recommend you put a piece of wood under each end so you can move the chassis holders easily.

Made my first amp build a lot easier

I bought this for my first amp build, a 5e3 clone. It made assembly a lot easier to tilt the chassis to different angles. This thing is huge, about twice as big as I thought it was from the photos. Very well built, but the recessed nuts comprising the mechanism could use some improvements...however, this did not detract from the usability.

One note for the 5e3...the transformer sits close to the edge of the chassis, and means that only about 1/4" of one side of the chassis is on the cradle. I emailed Mojotone, and they said the 1/4" would hold it fine, and they were right. They also suggested installing the power transformer at the end.

Now that I have this, will need to build some more amps!
