Bullet Guitar Jack Tightener

About This Item

Fix loose jacks instantly
Tighten jacks and save your gig without taking anything apart!

This handy tool tightens jacks on guitars, amps, and pedals—it works from the outside to prevent twisting and breaking the delicate solder joints inside the jack.

Simple and inexpensive, it's a pocket-sized fix for a very common problem. Put one in your gig bag, jacks always fail when you least expect it!

Fix your jack in three easy steps:
  • Put the socket head over the 1/2" nut
  • Press the rubbery Grip-Tip into the jack to hold it
  • Turn the tightening handle. That’s it!

Three models to choose from
The original is smooth molded plastic, so it won't scratch your guitar or amp hardware. The 2.0 models have a brass socket for a lifetime of heavy use.

  • Original Bullet: fits 1/2" inch nuts for 1/4" inch jacks
  • Bullet 2.0: fits 1/2" inch nuts for 1/4" inch jacks
  • Bullet 2.0 - Metric: fits 11mm nuts for 1/4" inch jacks, common for import instruments

One size fits all, well almost!

Like many of my fellow guitar nuts, I own a few, one of which is a Conti Heirloom which is a thin line setup like most of the Gibsons, I've owned in the past. This device works perfectly on that guitar, and was the reason I bought it to begin with. Then I went to tighten the input jack on my Taylor 700 series flattop and discovered the nut for the input jack is round, not hexagonal, and needs a different tool. I haven't figured this one out yet, but it might take a pair of vice grips and something else to hold the guts of the input steady. Ideas welcomed.

Perfect tool

I learned years ago the phrase "the right tool for the right job" and this device is the perfect example of that. It really does the job better than anything else.

New Problem Solver In My Gear Bag

This little tool works great, no more needing to access the back of the jack to tighten the nut. Went through all my guitars and they all needed tightening. Used it on my acoustic jacks also, should work on amp jacks as well. Someone had a very good idea with this one

For the "Original Bullet"...

This review is for the Original Bullet model. It works exactly like it's described as working. Really one of the few unitaskers that is completely worth it in my tool kit. Simple and effective.

Saves the Jack

This works well. It saves the threads on the jack since you don’t have to use pliers to grip the jack when you tighten the nut.

Must have tool

I've had the original bullet for 1/2" nuts for quite a time. It has proven to be extremely useful & makes the job of tightening loose jacks so easy. I've used it hundreds of times on the instruments that pass through my workshop & it still works perfectly.
I also see a lot of import instruments which have a smaller nut size & so I was delighted when I saw StewMac stocked the bullet 2.0 for 11mm nuts.
The brass socket will make it even more robust. I shall be ordering an extra 1/2" bullet 2.0 as a spare just in case my original should fail, although there's no indication that it's going to let me down yet.

Bullet Jack Review

This works on my Fender and Gibson and Gretsch guitars. But does not work on my PRS SE. PRS didn't make the area around the nut large enough to allow the nut gripper to slide on far enough.

Excellent tool works as advertised. Some were saying it does not work on Strats due to Jack plate
angel. I beg to differ I have four strat type guitars works great on all . Great idea well made

Very handy tool, jacks take a lot of stress and keeping them snug is easy and pocket portable as well with this tool.
