Fits the solomon iron I bought perfect. Way better than cheap stands I've used before. Tip or iron is not exposed when using stand. Much safer than rinky dink radioshack stands of old.

Yes that is what these little hotties do, they hold that hot iron, and you don't have to be concerned about where you are setting it or if the soldering iron accidently moves, falling and you reach out to catch it -- leaving yourself with a burn that can be extremely serious. No, if your gonna solder, get one of these, you will be thankful you did.... They are sturdy, will built and simple to assemble; don't solder without one...

I bought a cheap soldering kit from Amazon and have replaced every single component. I now use this with the SR-137 soldering iron. This stand is stout and holds your iron securely inside and (as long as you dock it correctly) there's no chance of exposing the tip to surrounding items on the bench. None of this can be said for the spring capture version.

Came close to knocking my soldering iron on the carpet many times just laying in the little cradle that came with, but no more! Solid product, fits perfect!

Okay, wasn't sure about this one because of the low price but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to put together and seems fairly sturdy. For the price, it's worth picking up for light soldering work.

A good, solid. soldering stand. And the price is right. As others have noted, the sponge does tend to move around, but for me that's a small issue. I suppose a dab of CA glue might hold it in place.
