3M 77 Spray Adhesive Glue
Fast-acting spray adhesive makes it easy to cover your amp and speaker cabs.
When you're covering a speaker cabinet, it's tough to know what kind of glue to use. 3M Super 77 is a spray adhesive that creates a strong bond between the wood of the cabinet and the Tolex.
Its low soak-in property gives you enough time to stretch the Tolex tight, allowing you to get a neat and wrinkle-free covering. Using a spray adhesive also avoids glue build-up and lumps under the Tolex.
- Here’s how we use it:
- Be careful of overspray! Mask off any surface you want to avoid getting glue on.
- Spray both the Tolex and the wood of the cabinet separately. Let glue set up for 5-10 minutes.
- Apply the Tolex, pulling tight and using a squeegee or similar tool to remove the air bubbles.
- Use Brown Binding Tape along edges and corners to hold the Tolex in place until the glue dries, about 5-6 hours; wait overnight for best results.
