Nut Rescue Powder

About This Item

Don't make a new nut just to fix a low slot—fill it!
Nut Rescue lubricated powder makes it easy to stop the buzzes from a low nut slot forever.

Fix or replace?
One option for fixing a low slot is replacing the nut completely, but this isn't always ideal. Replacing the original nut on a vintage guitar can hurt its value and lead to finish chipping around the fretboard or headplate. And making a new nut can be too expensive for some cutomers. In these common situations, the best fix is to fill and recut the problem slots.

The perfect match and more
Some shops use ground bone or baking soda to fill a low nut slot, but it's hard to match the color and patina with homemade fillers. Other fillers can leave the slot rough, causing tuning and playability issues. That's where Nut Rescue really saves the day.

Ultra-smooth glide and easy application
Designed by the hardworking techs in Joe Glaser's shop, Nut Rescue makes it easy and fast to get rid of those awful buzzes. The ultra-fine powder is easy to pack into any nut slot and stays put. The special recipe has built-in lubrication, letting the string glide through the slot like it should. This set includes 3 different colors to easily match a variety of nut materials.

The cream powder matches natural bone, ivory, and Tusq. The bright white powder matches modern bleached bone and corian. The black powder matches Tusq, ebony, and buffalo. The included specialized applicator tool makes it easy to measure and apply just what you need.

How to fill the slot
Protect the finish with Low-tack Tape. Clean out the low slot with a nut slotting file. Use the small applicator to fill the slot and then gently tamp it down. Apply a drop of thin super glue, but be careful—it only takes a little! Give the glue some time to cure, then file the new slot.

Nut Rescue is one of those shop shortcuts it pays to have on your bench. Each little bottle lasts a LONG time.

    Features:
  • Ultra-fine, packable powder
  • Built-in lubrication with no discoloration
  • Fast, durable, and permanent repair
  • Keeps vintage guitars original
  • Three colors to match any nut

Set includes three 5 ml bottles (cream, white, and black) and special applicator.

Save a nut!

I bought nut files and thought I could improve the action on several of my guitars. Well, I did get the action lower, just too low. Nut rescue powder worked great to fill the slots I filed too deep and allowed me to re-cut them to the proper depth. This 3 pack could probably repair 1000 nut slots. It would be nice if Stew Mac sold them individually too.

Worked great

The black powder worked great, together with thin Super Glue, to build up a black Bakelite Rickenbacker nut that was filed too deeply. The repair is almost invisible.

I used this product to fix the nut of an electric guitar. It worked beautifully. It dries very hard and filed well.

Too bad they don't just offer one color

All of my nuts are black and from using this stuff the first couple times... I doubt I will EVER get through this jar of black stuff!

I used the stewmac #10 glue with it. It definitely works... I was hoping it would be a little harder though, it is sorta malleable. I like this stuff so much that I am thinking about not replacing the nut on this guitar just filling it and re cutting! If you could buy this in single jars for less I would give 5 starts.

GREAT

This works fantastic.
Since I'm notorious For "I can get it a little better" and I go a little too deep, I'm well familiar with baking soda and super glue.
This is much better. Really glad I got it. Although it's not necessary, I did find I like it with one application and then a second on top.

Great Product!

I bought this to correct a deeply cut nut on a very cheep guitar and figured it would be a great way to "test" the powder to see if it would live up to the claims. It worked quickly and easily on the nut and saved me time and aggravation of replacing the whole nut. So now the low end guitar works without the buzz. Thanks for the great product.

Pays for itself on first use.

Everyone has encountered a perfectly good nut with one slot that’s too deep. Or blown a nut filing the slot to deep. Baking soda and super glue works but not on dark colored nuts. Rarely does it ever match even on lighter nuts. It’s always obvious somethings been done. It’s a Fix vs a virtually undetectable repair. This is the solution to making that pro repair that lasts as long as the original nut. The hard work is already done for you which is making the powder itself. Fill the slot. Refile it and your done. Compared to a nut replacement it’s cheaper to boot. Not many things give you a better repair in less time. This is one.

I have already discovered several other uses for these powders beyond repairing nuts. For nut repair it is exceptional!
