Very versatile jack

I've used this jack before in a tricky application, this time it was for the output of a Chapman stick where we needed a stereo output and switching for active pickups. This jack gives you a lot of options for custom wiring and switching. Awesome, to use a hackneyed term...

I had to replace my Fender Jazz bass guitar. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it anywhere in Europe, but luckily I got it here. I am glad.

9-lug Stereo Jack

This complex jack was just what I needed for the headphone output for a Wurlitzer 200A piano; it required switching in bot the plugged in and unplugged modes and this unit worked perfectly.

A different use

By

I'm using two of these as inputs to a speaker cabinet with 2 10" (1966) drivers. In the mid 1960s amps of hi wattage were rare, and so too were speakers. And I wanted to be able to use the cabinet either in stereo or mono, and when mono at 16 ohms to reduce the wattage dissipated. With these sockets, if I plug into the Right (thought it could have been Left, of course) only, I get a series connection. Using both jacks each sees 8 ohms. It's only possible because of the 2 spdt switches on each jack.
Do note that if you want to use these as guitar jacks, the hole better be big.

VERY VERSATILE

The wiring diagram is not completely clear. The ring, tip and ground are not switched internally. Those terminals operate like any other jack. The internal switches are separate from ring, tip and ground. If you want to switch those terminals, just jumper the back of the switch the way you want., with a small wire. IE jump tip no 4 to common no 2 and you have tip switched out through poles 1 and 3 as you need.

A perfect swap

The old jack in the Chet Atkins kept cutting out and giving static. This 9 lug from StewMac wasn't exactly the same, but the pins are all numbered so be sure that you write down the colour and number before you replace the original jack. I showed some rare foresight in doing so, but I'm glad I did as I have no static or cutting out anymore.

Ovation Elite Output Jack

By

Verified Buyer

I needed to replace a USA Ovation Elite output jack for one of my customers. A standard stereo jack does not have the isolated preamp battery plus-minus connections required. This jack works as designed and has multiple options for many other uses.
