Slotted Fingerboard for Gibson

About This Item

24.562" scale • 12" radius • 24 slots
Note: Gibson® guitar scale is commonly referred to as 24-3/4" but is actually 24.562".

This is the most common of three different scales described as 24-3/4" by Gibson over the years. Many Gibson's have alternate scale lengths—please measure your guitar before ordering!

Tip: For 20-fret necks, simply cut off the four highest slots.

Gibson® 24-3/4" scale changes over the years
The Gibson 24-3/4" scale is one of the most common, and most confusing of all scale lengths-this is because it rarely ever measures out to be 24-3/4 inches! This scale has gradually changed over the past fifty or so years due to changes in production equipment.

Learn more about scale length and how scale length affects tone.

Our kiln-dried fingerboards have flat undersides, are unfretted (no inlays), and ready for trimming to fit a variety of neck widths.

Approximate dimensions: 2-3/8" x 18-1/2" x 15/64" (60.32mm x 469.90mm x 5.95mm)
Scale: 24.562" (623.87mm)
Radius: 12" (304.80mm)
Fret slots: 24 slots, 0.023" wide (0.58mm). Ready to accept our fretwire.

Important:
Ebony is usually not uniformly black.
We offer Black Fingerboard Stain, as used by Gibson®, Paul Reed Smith® and other makers for darkening the streaks on ebony fingerboards, bridges and peghead overlays.

Even though I'm not a high volume guitar builder, Stewart Mac has always treated me as if I was their only customer. I wish I was a volume builder so I can order more material and supplies! This is just one of several items I ordered this time around. As usual, the service was excellent and the product is outstanding. I've cut my own fret boards before, just for the experience. These fretboards are the best and save me a lot of time.

What a time saver

I bought a couple of Madagascar Master Grade pre-slotted and radius to try out. The quality is great. Being a one man guitar building in my small workshop, I have so many tasks in making guitars, these fingerboards eliminates a tedious process and a real time saver.
I recommend you to give it a try.

Building made easy

There’s going to be a common thread to any review I post on here as I transition from my former ‘employer’ to building in my basement, I have prioritized when and what to buy. And I needed this.

A bit pricey but very high quality.

In frustration I ordered two pre-slotted fretboards for the two 1958 Gibson V replicas I am building. I had two done, screwed up the slots on one and figured I have done everything else by hand and on my own; buy a couple fretboards. Having to then put the buttons in and possibly screw them up, pound in the frets and shape them to the neck is a lot of work still to do. Are they accurate? Very! Are they radiused and a little long so you can trim them to your pickups? You Bet. Did they come fast? Considering the pandemic, Oh Yeah. Overall FIVE STARS! This is a great Supply House and an awesome place to have to turn to in need. The woods are obviously graded in a high quality way before manufacture even starts. Thanks Stewie!

I bought two of the Indian rosewood boards and they are just beautiful. This is really an exceptionable value for a beginner like myself.

Ultimate value!

The cheapest maple fretboard/fingerboard straight and true right out of the box. The radius required only finish sanding and matched my 9.5 radius block perfect. It's worth having one of these just to use as a template/saw guidefor attempting to layout/saw your own fret slots...way faster than measuring down to the thousandth just to cut it by hand within 1/64th .lol

I use them for vintage parlor guitar repair - the short scale is compatible with many old parlor guitars. Always high quality and I use the maple because the price is very good. I flatten the arch a bit.
