I built a Jazzmaster style kit for my girlfriend for the upcoming holiday, and this jack plate was a nice upgrade from the cheap, thin plate that came with the kit. This plate was substantial, and formed nicely, when I was screwing down.

These jack plates are thick, and have very good plating. I always replace those thin jack plates that come on cheaper guitars. Also , I always replace the jack, too, if it's not switchcraft. If you replace these 2 parts, you probably will never have a problem with your input. Top quality at low price !!

I decided to reinforce the jack on my G5120T with one of these. Using a StewMac Jack Installation Tool and a pair of pliers (to hold the threaded jack while I threaded the jack plate onto the installation tool before reinserting it into the jack) made installing the plate a breeze. After centering the plate, I used a manual hand drill to make the pilot holes for the screws. Screwed the plate to the body, and done. Took almost as long to write this review than it took for the install.
Jack plate and screws are solid and shipping is fast. Excellent product and service.

Works well for Gretsch 5120

Need to tighten the radius? Don't beat on it with a hammer! Use a 3" or so hole saw in a 1-by board. Slice both pieces in half. Pad the jack plate with cloth and put it all in a vise. Crank and check until you have the desired radius. Depending on the arc in your stock, this method will work to close OR open the radius.
