StewMac Nut and Saddle Sander
StewMac Nut + Saddle Sander
Perfectly square, flat bottoms in seconds
For solid contact and good tone, the bottom of a nut or saddle must be squared up. This "vise on wheels" is the fastest, surest way to do this.
We were the first to bring this tool to market, solving a common problem in guitar work, keeping nuts and saddles perfectly vertical while sanding for a truly flat, square bottom.
Why does that matter? Because even a slight tilt or uneven surface can prevent full contact between the underside of the saddle or nut and the instrument. That loss of contact will cause a noticeable loss in tone—reduced sustain, less clarity, and inconsistent performance. This is even more pronounced if you use an undersaddle pickup.
Sanding these parts by hand is tougher than you might imagine. It only takes a small amount of uneven pressure to throw things off. This tool makes consistently perfect results surprisingly easy. Just clamp your nut or saddle in place, set your depth, and roll it across sandpaper on a flat surface. It keeps everything square automatically, so you get a clean, accurate result every time.
No second guessing, no do-overs.
The new and improved version of our original features a red anodized aluminum body built for a lifetime of use in your shop. A semi-transparent side makes it easy to align your nut or saddle before sanding, and a built-in reference scale shows exactly how much material you're removing with each turn of the adjustment knobs.
