Works great!

I added this ago an SG cutom with three Humbuckers. The stock wiring with a three-way switch gave you: neck humbucker, middle and bridge humbuckers, and the bridge hum bucker. By adding this switch, I can now get: neck, neck and bridge, bridge, neck and middle, middle, and bridge and middle. If I add a push, pul pot, I could also get all three pickups at once. Just the switch for me now.

It was a little tricky to solder and right on the edge of my capabilities, but I got it to work. I finally got all the combinations I wanted out of this guitar! I'm happy.

Great tool for getting the most out of your two PU guitar

This is a nice alternative to a pull-pot coil tap, as I only want to manage one switch for pickup selection and coil tap when playing. There are dozens of options for wiring the switch, so I had to do a bit of homework to decide which variation I wanted to execute.

Soldering requires a moderate level of experience, so if you’re a novice, I would leave this to a professional or an advanced amateur to help you with.

Once installed, it takes some getting used to, but it’s well worth the effort.

Not for beginners

This is a high-quality switch that adds lots of options to wiring your instrument. It is not, however, for someone without a good deal of soldering experience. The pads are separated much less that 1/32- one needs a good, fine-pointed, hot, iron with a steady hand- best to try it when you are rested, not at the end of the day. I have since learned that Freeway makes the switch with leads pre-soldered- maybe StewMac could look into stocking that. I did have some problems (not the switches fault) and as usual Tech Support was super. Another plus is that this switch will fit into a very slim body, giving more options for custom builders.

The company that builds these was very responsive when I asked for a wiring diagram for my project. I've done the switch wiring but not installed into the guitar yet. By switch wiring, I mean different soldering pads may need to be connected to get the switch to do what you need. It was helpful to poke a hole in a box to hold the switch in a stable position with the bottom surface facing up.

Ideal fit for the guitar

My husband had stripped his 1960's Prestige guitar down to it's beautiful original wood. He researched several places and could not find a pickup switch to fit inside the space provided. It was not deep enough for all the switches we could find. StewMax had a switch that was flat instead of tall. This was ideal for what he was wanting to do. The guitar is back together and finished. It turned out beautiful. Thank you StewMax.

original freeway replacement

This replaced an original 3-02 switch. The design is upgraded and easy to solder. Diagrams are fairly easy to find online

If you can wire it, you'll never take it out!

Pros: Gives you up to 6 switching configurations in one simple switch; Becomes second nature to switch to your custom wiring; No color added to your tone
Cons: Contacts must be soldered with care; Switch cap doesn't lock onto the shaft

If you need custom wiring in one simple switch, look no further! Take care in soldering the points and you'll have a Swiss Army Knife of tone with as little as one pickup.

Wired this up with 2 P-90s for six distinct sounds. Reasonably solid switch action.

Nice for what it does

I really only needed a 3-way, but it needed to be shallow due to my guitar body depth, so I opted for this. Not really effective for a 3 way because it swivels all over the place. Holes are very small for soldering as well. I wish Stew-Mac made a shallow 3-way in this same format, but will easier lugs.
