Saddles for Original ABR-1 Tune-o-matic Bridge

About This Item

From the manufacturer who makes the originals
Accurate replacement parts for many Gibson and US made ABR-1's with or without retainer wire. Fits the Original ABR-1 Tune-o-matic Bridge.

We recommend ordering the matching Saddle Screws for Original ABR-1 to ensure the correct 4-40 thread fit.

Nickel and gold-plated brass. Set of 6.

These saddles are supplied without notches, for custom string spacing in your shop.

Tip: Slotting Tune-o-matic style saddles
Nut slotting files work great for metal saddles. Choose your file size as you would when slotting a nut: use the same gauge as the string, or a few thousandths larger. After filing to the desired depth, we suggest polishing the slot with Mitchell's Abrasive Cord to remove file marks and burrs.

Perfect fit, bridge is like new again

Bought these to replace the saddles on a Gibson 1998 ES-335 '59 reissue with a Gibson ABR1 bridge. The slots in some of the saddles were worn down too low. The new saddles fit right in, and using the Stew Mac string spacing rule, I was able to easily slot the new saddles. The bridge is good as new, and the guitar plays great again.

Evidently some ABR-1 bridges are different...

While working on a '74 Gibson Les Paul I lost a saddle. So I ordered this set. Then realized that there are two types of ABR-1 saddles. These are nicely made, but were not the same as the originals. As it turned out the original ABR-1 bridge was incredibly sloppy, warn out and needed replacing. That's why the original saddle fell out. If replacing saddles on an original ABR-1 make sure to compare the saddle face Some are longer/shorter than others.

It appears that I got the wrong type of saddles or they were not machined right the first time, but StewMac's customer service tech took care of the problem and shipped the correct saddles free of charge. Great people to deal with!!!

Workable but tolerances are under par

So, while these fit my Gibson ABR, they are not height-compensated like the originals and two were off-center horizontally. I couldn't even use one, it was so off-center (luckily I didn't need them all).
