Solomon SR-965 Soldering Iron

About This Item

Durable • Reliable • Great price!
The best economy-priced iron we've found for guitar and amp soldering jobs.

It heats to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C), and at 40 watts, is a step above short-lived 15-30 watt megamart irons.

    Features include:
  • Affordable price, exceptional quality
  • Durable stainless steel shank sleeve
  • Comfortable cushioned grip
  • Long-life non-corrosive 1/32" fine-point tip
  • 4-1/2 foot cord
    We recommend:
  • Order a chisel tip for soldering connections to the back of a control pot or grounding a wire to a tremolo claw. It's also handy for steaming out wood dents with a damp cloth.
  • The adjustable Soldering Stand is a must-have for convenience and safety.
  • Use #0505 standard 60/40 rosin core solder with this iron. Lead-free solder is not recommended due to its high melting point (above 420°F).

#0502 is a 110-volt AC electrical appliance, 60Hz. It has a U.S. standard Type A plug with two flat parallel prongs, ungrounded.

#0602 is a 220-volt AC electrical appliance, 50Hz. It has an international plug Type C (Europlug) with two round prongs, ungrounded.

Soldering Iron You Can Use

By

The shape and weight of the iron, heat-up time, and heat control were excellent. The tips in the kit instructions were useful and gave me confidence. I mainly used the pointed tip that came with the iron, but I also used the chisel point I added to the iron once with great success.

Great purchase

I bought this after doing a little research and it did not disappoint. I had tried soldering pickups in my guitars 2 or 3 times and I was never able to do it right. I read everywhere that a 25w iron would do anything I needed. That was a lie. I bought this and I had my pickups installed in less than 5 minutes! I bought the chisel tip with it and I completely soldered the pots, tremolo claw, output jack, and pickups with no problem. It is definitely worth the money if you do guitar work

Great soldering iron

Needed a higher wattage one for soldering grounds to trem claws. Works great and so much faster than struggling with a 25 watt iron.

Heats up quickly, applies even heat to work, but no heat to hand. Very good value.

Not an expert

I've had some experience, with soldering: use to inspect it in one of my jobs, and saw it done a lot; but I'm still no expert solderer. Still this iron got hot, the tips were what was needed, and different than other solder irons -- I'd say, designed, for the type of soldering: jacks, plugs, switches, pickup that we find in guitar soldering. Comes down to it, it did the job....
