StewMac 3-In-1 Bridge Caul
For gluing bridges and removing/installing bridge plates
The 3-in-1 Bridge Caul performs three critical jobs for repairing acoustic guitar bridges and bridge plates. This versatile tool was invented by Todd Sams, head of StewMac's tool development team.
Heat out an old bridge plate
Heated on a hotplate, the aluminum block retains heat to soften the glue. Machine screws threaded through the bridge pin holes hold the caul tight while the heat does its work. The detachable hand grip lets you get the hot caul in and out of the guitar body safely. Use our Bridge Plate Chisel to remove the bridge plate.
Install a new bridge plate
The 3-in-1 Caul is a perfectly shaped for gluing a new bridge plate. It covers the plate with a strong, uniform pressure. Machine screws through the bridge pin holes draw the caul firmly up against plate — no clamp needed. The included hex wrench tightens the caul in place.
Glue an acoustic bridge
The caul fits between the x-braces inside the guitar, providing uniform clamping pressure. Raise the adjustable thumbwheels until they contact the guitar top for support at the ends of the bridge. Use with our Bridge Clamping Caul for ideal contact above and below the bridge while gluing.
