This book is helpful but doesn’t cover any wiring mods. It does help with many manufacturers standard wiring diagrams. I hope someone will write a book what to change when you change pickups or upgrade your instrument.

Guitar Electronics for Muscicians by Donal Brosnac

This is a must have for anyone repairing, building or just wanting to better understand guitar and bass electronics. This is 'exactly' the same content as the original 'Guitar Electronics - A Workbook' by Brosnac published in 1980. I used the original to build several lefty basses (forced to as I could not afford to buy a lefty back then) in the 1980's. The new edition has better text (the actual print), illustrations and photos are clearer and there is a bit more copy per page so it is 128 pages vs. the original 150 but nothing is left out or deleted. This book covers guitar electronics from the 1930's through to 1980. It is important (IMO) to understand the origins of any technology to understand how we got here. Considering the amount of info on active electronics you would think everything would be active-e today, but much of current guitar technology is not far from the original 1930's concepts! Get this book!

The book you thought you didn't need.

This is one of those books you buy on a whim, look through it, put it on your bookshelf. Some time later, a family member's guitar or one you bought at a sale needs some electrical work. Voila! You don't have to search the web for a drawing or spend 20-30 dollars for a schematic that may or may not be the proper drawing. Some of the wiring schemes in the book closely apply to other manufacturer's designs and can save you some time and some money.

Good reference for the beginner or non-electronic tech or enginner

Good reference manual, however, being an Electronic Technician and Technical Engineer I would have preferred the inclusion of schematics, especially for the multi position switch applications.
For the beginner or the non-ET it will be a very useful reference and a valuable addition to your library

good but not great

Does a good job of the guitars it does list, but I would have liked to see more on less popular pickups etc. I have alot of pickups that have been collected over the years and was hoping to see which wires were which on them.
