Erick Coleman: Here's a cool tool. It's our own Deadblow Fretting Hammer, and it's modified specifically for doing fret work. The head's filled with shot, that's what gives it its dead blow effect. It won't bounce on the frets like a regular hammer can, so the energy transfers to the fret. Frets seat faster and with fewer blows. This eight ounce hammer has a plastic head on one side and a custom design brass face on the other, so you got brass or the softer plastic. Using the brass face, it's quick and accurate so I can speed through a fret job.
