Similar in appearance to walnut, T'zalam has a beautiful copper to hazelnut coloring that comes alive under finish. Used as a veneer for years, this wood is steadily gaining appreciation for its acoustic tone by custom builders.

T'zalam, Lysiloma spp.
Also known as Caribbean or Mayan Walnut, Frijolillo, and more, T'zalam or Tzalam has the appearance of American Walnut, but with a higher density and uniform grain—making it ideal for backs, sides, and fingerboards.
The differing shades of brown are complemented with subtle hues of amber and red. The contrasting grainlines, yellow sapwood and figuring seen in some pieces creates a striking visual appeal. It's very easy to work with, and glues, finishes, and polishes extremely well.
