Original Large, Guitar Repair Palette Knife

About This Item

The RIGHT tool for safely removing bridges, fingerboards, braces, and more. This is the classic palette knife! Just like the one we've sold for years, its flexible blade and angled shape make it perfect for getting under bridges, fingerboard extensions, opening cracks and seams between tops and sides, and more.

The steel blade has a comfortable wood handle and versatile shape for removing a bridge, pickguard, or fingerboard extension from an instrument. The tapered blade helps separate glue seams easily.

The blade tapers to an extremely thin and fine point, easily getting into any tight space. It's also flexible, so the blade stays down while you hold the handle safely away from the guitar body. Not only is the blade flexible, it's also very sturdy.

Dimensions:
Blade length: 3-15/16" (100mm)
Blade thickness: tapers 0.040" to 0.019" (1mm - 0.48mm)
Blade width: 1-35/64 (39.29mm) at its widest point.

This knife has a polished stainless steel blade and solid wood handle with smooth black finish.

Unlimited uses in the shop
These are super handy! Once our crew got a hold of our early samples, they took them and wouldn't give them back. They found hundreds of uses for them in their shop—everything from getting glue in tight spots, opening a crack, and anything where you need a little more precise control and extended reach.

This tool is perfect! This was my first bridge replacement, and after heating the bridge, the knife did an amazing job! Flexible, but very strong!

Why did I wait so long?!

By

Up until about two weeks ago I had always used a thin putty knife for bridge and fingerboard removal. I had the leading edge ground to a slight bevel which worked fairly well. I finally broke down and got the Palette Knife and used on a '67 D-28 to remove the bridge. I was very impressed and wondered "Why did I wait so long?! Great tool!

A must for fret board removal work.

I bought this to remove the fretboard on a severely damaged Samick SSC311 classical guitar, I also used the rounded corner one and the large long spatula. All three worked wonderfully. Thank you Stewmac for the wonderful selection of top quality tools and supplies.

Good and work as it says. Have not tried removal at Saddle Bridge yet which is harder to work on.

Just What I Needed

Received my large palette knife this week and used it to remove veneer from an antique radio cabinet... OK, not a normal luthier project but it was perfect for the task! Next, I will be removing the top from a bouzouki and I know it will be very handy. Almost as thin as a razor blade and much more flexible!

Exactly what I needed

This is a great tool at a great price. After 30 seconds of touching my iron, I was able to slide this under the bridge quite far. It's the right balance of flexible and stiff, and I was able to get my first bridge removal off without any tearout at all.
