About bridge & tailpiece measurements

Bridge and Tailpiece reference image

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

This bridge worked flawlessly I was able to get it in position it stays where I put it. I was able to intonate my guitar perfectly.

Added life & playability to Epiphone ES-125TDC

This bridge has added resonance, sustain and really brings out the sparkle in this guitar's tonal sweet spot. I can feel the vibration on the guitar top as it resonates now. It seems the rosewood absorbed too much of the string vibration. Much easier to intonate. It also corrected what I feel is a problem with the way the rosewood bridge string spacing was cut. The neck of this guitar is narrower than the Les Paul standard width and the rosewood bridge string spacing is wider that the Les Paul standard string spacing placing both E strings too close to the edge. This bridge fixed that. No more accidental string slipping off the neck. I haven't noticed any buzzing or loose parts. Very pleased. Only downside that I did not anticipate is that this bridge is chrome and the tailpiece of the guitar is nickel. I can live with it.

Could be improved

Big improvement in intonation from the stock aluminum alloy bridge. The bridge pieces have way too much wiggle in them and they slip out of intonation frequently, I'm going to try some non-hardening lock-tite on them. The adjustment screw threads are a sloppy fit inside the bridge piece and are thus imprecise to set. The design could use some simple improvement.

Could be better

The bridge pieces tend to drift because the screw threads jiggle. The slotted screws are awkward to turn and phillips heads would be better. The wood base as expected needs to sanded for a good contact fit to the guitar arch top.

Perfect fit!

Bought this for my newly acquired Peerless Wizard hollow body to replace the factory rosewood bridge which was compensated for a wound G. Perfect fit with no modifications other than flipping the E saddles to give some extra adjustment (longer low and shorter high E). Guitar now intonates well up the neck and sustains better than before. One tiny burr on the outside edge right under where my palm rests, but a quick hit with a file took care of that. Recommended!

Can't go wrong with this. Your tone will improve vs the stock wooden bridge. I'm glad I made the switch. I have an Epiphone Joe Pass.

Improved sound

Got this to replace a wooden bridge on a hollow body jazz guitar with intonation problems. Sound and intonation were improved. The metal saddles brought out the volume and tone in the guitar.

Had the bridge installed at guitar center and the saddles rattle just like my previous one. Would not recommend.
