Better than I expected, one little problem adjustment screws were a little long, but other than that I'm happy. Good quality for a great price.

Not same size

I bought this to replace the one on my '80s Schecter P/J Bass. The bridge, holes etc all line up nicely. The saddles however are larger diameter and wider than my originals, making the spacing unusable. These are well made and very nice but just a heads-up if you have something vintage, it may not fit.

As classic as you can get.

Good sound and materials. Not as adjustable as some more expensive options, and not the best bridge to rest your hand on, if you need that. The chrome can get scratched a bit when the intonation is adjusted.

Overall a good bridge for the price

I did not replace a similar bridge so I cannot comment on how it fits as a replacement. The screws seem to be a very small diameter which may be too small to be used in a replacement, but I suppose you could use the original screws. They may not lay flat on the bridge as the chamfers are for a small screw. I also had to replace the set screws as mentioned by an earlier reviewer as they stuck up too high. So add another $5 to the overall price.

A great, solid bridge, but with one serious caveat...

I bought this bridge for a Replica 76-79 Fender P-bass project I have been working on for the last few months.

It is a good, solid, drop in replacement for Fender bass, and I appreciate that. With that in mind, I would easily give it 5 stars...

HOWEVER, what drops it to only three stars is the fact that once the I had the action (string height) adjusted, the height set screws stick out above the saddle by 3 or 4 mm in some cases- and they are SHARP! While trying to mute a string at the bridge, they almost cut the side of my hand! The only recourse I have is to grind down the bottoms of each set screw and reinstall the bridge (set the action, etc, all over again.). Even other Fender replacement bridges I've seen or used have shorter set screws so that they don't stick out as much. EVERY neck has a radius, and I'm honestly surprised that Gotoh didn't account for this.

Or I replace it with a different bridge...

Excellent Fender Bass Replacement Bridge

By

Thank you Gotoh and StewMac for offering such a reasonably priced larger mass replacement for the standard Fender bridge. All screw holes on the lower end aligned perfectly with the original and it was no bother no drill 2 holes for the top end. I did end up using the original bridge's mounting screws as was mentioned by a few earlier users and being a palm mute guy, changed out all height screws to smaller profile, as was also mentioned earlier. This is a great bridge and has my Fender Jazz sounding full and rich whole being fully adjustable for string height and intonation.

Problem: 1967 P-Bass with a Gibson Explorer Bass bridge(!); plays out of tune.
Answer: Gotoh Standard Bass bridge. All screw holes lined up, easy to intonate and set string
action and radius to match Fender specs.
Problem solved.
