Replacing tuner knobs is a simple repair, we recommend these instructions to guide you.

Color-matching Cream Parts and Bindings
There have always been slight variations in the color of the cream plastic parts used on Gibson and other guitars. It's not uncommon to see brand new and vintage guitars with bindings, pickup rings, toggle switch rings and pickguards that don't perfectly match in color. We do our best to match all our cream products, but there's no absolute control from batch to batch, or from supplier to supplier.

Replacing damaged tuner knobs

This week, Dan's got a 1957 Les Paul Junior in his shop. It hasn't been out of the case in 25 years, and the tuners are unusable. Here's how to put new knobs on old tuners.

Great replacments

I used these on a '55 Supro Supreme lap steel whose knobs were cracked and rotting off. I followed the video instructions carefully. I used a portable drill press, the small StewMac shop vice to hold the knobs and drilled them out slightly as Dan Erlewine suggested in the video. Follow the rest of the video instructions and you'll be fine. Buying a couple extra is a good idea just in case...

Great Buttons, but price has increased 55% since last purchase!

I've purchased these cream buttons many times over the years and the price has always been pretty reasonable- until now. They were $1.56/each for the last decade or so and are now priced at $2.41/each. If all you need is a set of 6 of these, they will cost nearly $25/shipped, might as well just buy a set of Wilkensen or Kluson replacement tuners elsewhere for a few bucks more!

Great service; perfect product!

I bought some vintage style buttons in Ivoroid to replace some missing on an antique instrument I am restoring.
When the order didn't arrive I got in touch with Stewmac and the products were immediately replaced and sent without quibble.
The products are a perfect match for the remaining buttons. I was prepared to reshape them a little but this has proved unnecessary.
It was only a small order but the care and attention I have been given has been superb.

Mandolin Tuning Buttons

Didn't quite fit the Klusons, so we heated the shafts, placed the buttons on the heated shaft, gave them a few gentle taps and we're good to go!

Vintage tuner buttons

Perfect replacement items. Fastest shipping ever. I thought the shipping price of $10. 00 for six little buttons was too high, and I complained on my order, and they did give me a one time complementary price reducement which I appreciated.

glad they make these in black, may be used rarely in vintage instruments, but nice to be able to replace one at a time [bought full set in case]
