ColorTone Vinyl Sealer

About This Item

Create a barrier between wood and lacquer
ColorTone Vinyl Sealer locks in stain and grain filler, creating a clear barrier so successive topcoats won't melt into the material below. Specially formulated for stringed instruments, sealer can be applied over raw, stained, and grain-filled wood.

ColorTone Vinyl Sealer is ready to spray with no thinning required. Apply in layers to create a level build that dries clear—an excellent foundation for ColorTone Guitar Lacquer.

32 oz (946ml)

Lacquer products are flammable! They cannot be shipped outside the USA nor shipped by air within the USA. Nitrocellulose lacquer products should not be used with acrylic lacquers.

I'm the guy who built the Eric Gales Saturn "V" Guitar and invented the Point Classic Tremolo, so I know what I am talking about. Great stuff! I used it last week, three applications, ten minutes between each, over red mahogany treated with Por-O-Pac. Smooth as glass after wet sanding with 400 grit. Took true yellow basecoat with absolutely no bleed thru. Again, smooth as glass. And to the guy who wined about the container, take a nail and put a hole thru the rim of the top OUTSIDE the lid on each side, use one hole as a pour spout (the other is a vent) and then plug both with dowels. I have been doing it like this for years. Charles Fisher-Fisher Guitars

I used this sealer over mahogany stained with a red aniline dye. It sprayed and sanded ok, albeit with very little build, but the color bled completely through 2 coats of sealer, 3 coats of AquaCoat filler (practically no build), and well into the top coat. Fortunately, this was all done on test boards; if anyone decides to use this product, please test on scrap first!
