ColorTone Fretboard Finishing Oil

About This Item

Preserves and beautifies fingerboards and bridges, leaving a smooth non-sticky feel!

Unfinished fingerboards and bridges benefit from special protection. ColorTone® Fretboard Finishing Oil keeps new rosewood and ebony looking good, feeling new and playing great. Restore a like-new appearance and smooth feel to sanded wood. 8-ounce bottle.

Pure linseed and mineral oils have been traditional fingerboard preservatives, but they don't dry completely hard, often leaving a sticky playing surface. ColorTone Fretboard Finishing Oil combines the nourishing benefit of traditional linseed with special dryers. 24 hours after application the wood is sealed and protected. The fretboard looks great and feels smooth, never sticky.

ColorTone Fretboard Finishing Oil works best when applied sparingly—a single bottle goes a long way! Simply wipe it on with a soft cloth, wipe off, and buff. It's guitar-safe when properly used: won't loosen or stain inlays, frets or bindings.

Be sure the fingerboard is clean and dry before application. Not for use on finished maple fretboards or finished bridges.

Nearly perfect product

Worked well on a new rosewood fingerboard. My only complaint is the fingerboard still smells of the product after 9 months. If I were to sell the guitar, I feel I would have to disclose this unusual condition which isn't going to enhance its value. It still transfers odor to my fingers.

Useful to me on my five classical guitars, when I'm changing the strings, every six months on each.

Awesome Sauce!  :-)

I wasn't sure what to expect, but was hoping it would be what it claims to be, of course. So happy I got it. I've had my guitar 30+ years, and it's never looked better. I was concerned about the smell; woodworking oils, finishes, etc. can smell pretty harsh sometimes. This rates pretty low on the bad smell factor. The one bottle will probably last me a lifetime, and I live it so much I will try it on some other woodworking projects. Thanks, StewMac, you really came through on this one.

Great for “gray” indian laurel

Just bought a Squier Classic Vibe Strat. It had a rather dull “greyish” colored “cities” rosewood substitute fretboard. At the first string change I used good ‘ol fretboard finishing oil. All I can say is WOW! Now it really has a more rosewood redish color, look and feel. Thanks Stewmac for a great product!

I wanted to switch from lemon oil, so purchased this and cleaned up my fretboard and applied - nice look and feel - did the bridge also (Martin 000-15SM, rosewood fretboard and bridge) dries fast as they say. Doesn't take much to apply - the bottle will last for years

Unpleasantly Odorous

By

I realize that I'm in the minority here but, I'm not a fan. While this oil works as described, it leaves a very unpleasant odor behind that just won't seem to go away - I would describe the smell as a delightful blend of rancid linseed and fish. If you're into that sort of thing you'll love it...otherwise, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Followed directions exactly, however left residual oil on fretboard. Not what I was looking for.
