Black TUSQ XL Nuts

Black TUSQ XL Nuts

Self-lubricating nuts from Graph Tech are ideal for string bending and tremolo work. Now in more sizes!

Extra slippery: TUSQ XL® is impregnated with Teflon® (500% more slippery than graphite). During tremolo bends, the strings slide in the slots, returning to accurate pitch.

Dense and resonant: Pressure-formed TUSQ transfers string energy more efficiently, without dead spots found in natural materials. Guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.

Pre-shaped: Slotted or unslotted, they require only minor trimming.

Excellent fit, form and function! Having a constant lubricated nut without messy oils is the best way for guitar strings to return to there tuned position after lots of bends and whammy dives. I own a guitar repair shop and have used these nuts one hundreds of customers guitars and they all love them, as always thank you much Stew-mac for the great customer service and fast shipping, Mike... Got rid of the sitar buzz

By

I had bought a cheap strat clone with the idea of modding it. I knew I would change out the pickups. But the guitar also had a sitar-like buzz on the three highest strings when played open. The neck was straight and the fretwork fine. A little internet research turned my attention to the nut. A careful look revealed that the slots in the nut were cut horizontally rather than being angled downward toward the tuners.

I tried to cut the slots better and switched to 10 gauge rather than 9 gauge strings. These moves definitely reduced the buzz but did not get rid of it completely. So I ordered the TUSQ XL and I watched a few youtube videos to get up to speed. I did have to sand down the bottom to get the action set the way I wanted it and the sides so that it didn't stick out, but all told it was a 20 minute operation. No more buzz. Very very happy.

Great product, great price. The solid UNSLOTTED version is not that easy to find. I got this to custom fit to a Parker. Thanx folks!

Great nut!

The black TUSQ nut on my MiK Epiphone Dot broke when a grand child knocked the guitar over. My bad for leaving it where that could happen. Having never replaced a nut, I bought this. A tiny bit of sanding and it fit in. Then I sanded the bottom until the string heights were the same as before and voila! Really easy first time replacement. A partial sheet of 320 grit wet/dry and less than 30 mins.

Tusq Nuts are Awesome

By

I've bought many of the Tusq Nuts for Gibson style and Fender style applications and haven't had any problems with them. The Pre-Grooved nuts are just right for 10 gauge strings so I haven't had to do anything with the grooves. The Gibson style nuts only need a little sanding on the bottom for string height adjustment on some applications and it's an easy job. The Tusq nuts work great on Tremolo equipped guitars and I haven't had any issues with strings sticking in the grooves.

Fit my Squire Strat

By

Verified Buyer

The part fit my Squire Strat nut slot. I purchased the version with string slots already made, but you will have to deepen the slots to get the string height right. So if you don't have nut slot files you will need to purchase some.

The nut does seem to effectively allow the string to move freely when the tremolo is used and the tone seems as good or better than the original.

They sing!

By

To my utter surprise, these nuts are fantastic. I thought they would be plastic -- ie, deadish. But when I opened the package, I dropped it on my workbench and was greeted by a ringing "ding." That was a surprise.

Easy to fit and file to shape. And the nut sounds great.

So far so good

It positions the strings better than the cheap nut that was in my guitar. Strings seems to stay in tune more. Does what it should and looks good doing it.
