Conductive Shielding Paint

About This Item

Reduces hum, noise and radio interference.
The fastest and easiest way to shield pickup and control cavities. Perfect for tight spots.

When connected to electrical ground, the shielded surfaces help reduce noise, hum and radio interference. It cleans up with water while still wet, and dries overnight.

Brush on two or more coats of this waterbase dark gray conductive paint for best results (let dry between coats). Conductive shielding paint is supplied in a 1/2-pint can, sufficient for shielding several electric guitars, and in a money-saving 1-pint can. We recommend our conductive tape for best results when shielding smooth plastic pickguards.

Took more than three coats, but my single coils guitars are quiet as a mouse

I got the small can and did both my Tele(parts)caster and Stratocaster. Painting through pick-up wire holes in the Tele body was a pain with pipe cleaners, but it eventually took. Strat was easier as it was more open. Each guitar took 4 coats and I probably have enough in the (small) can to do one more guitar (and I plan on building another tele at some point). I feel the paint will hold up better in the long run than copper tape. I would buy it again if the project called for it.

I purchased this for my 1967 Gibson SG (even though it has a metal shroud for pots/jack). Insulated pickup notches as well and works great. Thanks StewMac.

Black blacker blackest

I'm experimenting on electrifying my old wooden-body resonator and figured "Faraday Cage" was a good place to start: I'm talking coating the entire soundbox innards. This stuff covers easily, water soluble (easy-to-clean brushes), and after three coats offers up resistance in the teens (Ohms) so I am well-pleased. The one pint tin would easily do two guitars. Be sure to work in a ventilated area (I worked by an open window with a room fan sucking the air away) though because this can't be good for you! I am highly satisfied.

This is the good stuff. Goes on fast & easy. Stewart-McDonald has the best products for all types of musical equipment. Love their educational videos as well.

Second can

By

This is my second can. The first worked very well for several guitars and I wanted to start off with a fresh can. Following the directions is simple and straight forward and does a good job. I prefer this method to using copper adhesive. Like most of StewMax products you get what you pay for.

Easy to use, but mix it well

By

Verified Buyer

This product is easy to use and should be effective in most circumstances, but be sure to absolutely mix it to death to insure that the "stuff" that does the work is fully suspended in the paint carrier. It's a pretty hard lump when first delivered and if not fully incorporated, there will be little or no shielding. As an added benefit, the black color in the recesses helps to make them disappear in many guitar designs.

I use this on every electric guitar I work on. Between this and copper or aluminum shielding for the pick guard it helps keep down all unwanted electronic feed back. Excellent product.
