Jensen P10R 25W 10" Guitar Speaker

About This Item

The P10R is a 10" alnico speaker that has a rich, warm tone. It accentuates the higher frequencies in sparkling detail.

  • 10" diameter
  • 25W rated power
  • Alnico magnet
  • 1" voice coil diameter
  • Loose lows
  • Firm mids
  • Smooth highs
  • Crunchy overdrive

The P10R was the signature speaker in Fender's legendary Super Reverb®.

Alnico speakers produce a sweet, warm, vintage tone. They sound best at low levels and are great for blues, jazz and mellow rock. Alnico speakers respond quickly, giving the musician a “one with the amp" feel. They are often considered to be premium speakers with superior tone.

Alnico speakers are made with magnets containing aluminum, nickel and cobalt. They are often featured in print as “AlNiCo", symbolizing the three respective elements. Cobalt is difficult to procure these days, resulting in Alnicos being the most expensive speakers in the Jensen® line.

Available in 4 and 8 ohm impedances.

Great upgrade for Princeton Reverb '65 reissue

By

I love my 65' Princeton Reverb reissue but I was missing some fullness and mids but I came across a great video suggesting replacing the ceramic 10" Jensen with this Jensen alnico 10". The improvement was immediate and exactly what I was looking for. Warm mids have returned to round out the sound while still retaining that great Princeton Reverb tone and I actually found it easier to find the tone balance between the amp and my pedals. Beyond the tone the response was also improved. If you have any doubts about doing this I'd suggest the Rhett Shull video on the '65 reissue and '64 custom Princeton Reverbs. It's what brought me to make the change and I can attest to the accuracy of his comments about the tone and response. Very pleased and very content now. Also, super easy to install by myself (and I've never been super handy). Happy shredding.

Replaced an 8 inch Turbosound. Much more interesting.
