African Mahogany Body Blank

A modern favorite, more and more builders are relying on African Mahogany for its warm, rich tone and easy workability. And it can be shipped internationally!

While not a "true" mahogany, African Mahogany (Khaya senegalensis) is a beautiful wood with many of the same visual and sonic properties of its South American namesake. Its tone is balanced with a strong midrange with plenty of punch, exactly what you want from an electric guitar.

These are top quality blanks, perfect for a translucent finish to show off the amazing grain. Each is matched, joined, and sanded—ready for you to start your build.

Approximate dimensions:
20-1/2" x 14" x 1-3/4" (520mm x 355mm x 44mm)

About African Mahogany
While it's denser and more fibrous than Honduran Mahogany, African Mahogany works and cuts well with both hand and power tools. The reddish-brown coloring will make a beautiful guitar with either a solid or translucent finish. It's an open pore wood, and requires filler to level the grain.
