Bridge pin return

By

I ordered these bridge pins and I received a very mismatched set. When I called them they sent someone to physically pick out a set and sent them and told me to keep the original set for my trouble.

Reasonable price and very nice looking

Snakewood is a beautiful wood and works well with an ebony bridge. I got the Waverly tuners with the snakewood buttons. A very nice combination.

1970 Guild F-112 upgrade

After a neck reset & top crack repairs decided to replace the original plastic pins. I was surprised the Snakewood pins fit perfectly in the original holes. I think it changed the sound a little for the better & look great against the rosewood bridge. Will try the ebony set I bought on the next string change to see if there is a difference. Great service & delivered on time, logo label looks great on the of case.

After a neck reset & a few top cracks fixed, decided to replace the 50 year old plastic bridge pins on a1970 Guild F-112. Pins fit perfectly & to my ears changed the sound a bit for the better. Will try the ebony set on the next string change to see if there is a difference with them also.

Pretty

They're a great upgrade from plastic, but I would go with ebony or bone in the future. As most bridges are rosewood, and dark, these reddish pins don't match as well as the alternatives.

Good Product

I was unable to get the correct size pins for a friends guitar, and even the manufacturer did not respond to my emails. After searching all of the warehouse companies, I went to SM to see if I could get pins custom made. That's when I ran across these. They fit my friends Luna beautifully, and actually better than the pins that came on it. For those looking or something different than the norm, these "Snakewood" pins are gorgeous and the tone (I feel) is more crisp than her old rosewood pins. Well worth trying!

Pros and Cons

These bridge pins are beautiful, and add to the aesthetic character of the instruments I put them in. The taper of the pins was too wide at the top for the Godin A6 models I installed them in. I had to individually grind each to fit the string/bridge holes. Once they were sized correctly, the ball end of the pin was still a little higher than the previous pins, but felt fine.
I didn't notice a sonic difference. But, they sure do look good.
