Waverly Dark Tortoise Bridge Pins

About This Item

A remarkable simulation of natural tortoiseshell
Our specially blended dark tortoise material makes a beautiful addition to a fine guitar. Light passes through, and it looks amazingly like protected hawksbill turtle shell.

Better bridge pins: machined, never molded
Our bridge pins, end pins and strap buttons are precision-machined from Galalith, a dense and durable material used in vintage jewelry. There are none of the mold lines or distortion common to plastic parts. These pins work perfectly. They're the nicest gift you can buy your favorite guitar!

All pins have a 5-degree taper.
Slotted pins have a 0.070" (1.78mm) string slot.
Sold in packages of 6.

Attractive and a good fit

Used to replace wooden bridge pins bought from Stew-Mac which had begun to shred after a short time. (And those replaced the ugly white plastic pins Gibson put on the wonderful CJ-165.) The tortoise pattern is translucent and glows a bit in bright light. Very handsome. The smooth texture makes insertion and removal easier than wood as well.

Galalith Bridge Pins

Acquired for review in the ToneQuest Report, these tortoise pins beautifully compliment our sunburst 1976 Martin D18. They added a richer tone than ebony and match our original rosewood bridge like no others. They are finely crafted (unslotted), fit perfectly and dramatically enhance the appearance of the guitar.

Clear bright sound...

After regluing a disconnected bridge, tightening the truss rod, lowering the action & filing nut slots, this thrown away 1990 Kay dreadnoight became a nice sounding & easy playing guitar. Thought about replacing the plastic nut but decided next step would be replacing its plastic bridge pins. What a huge difference these StewMac Tortoise Bridge Pins made. Wow... an easy, inexpensive upgrade. The Kay is surprisingly bright & loud (especially for its laminated wood construction). I might give a set of StewMac bone bridge pins a try => I understand bone might be a little less bright/more warmer tone. But these Tortoise pins are great and I have a set on my 1984 Martin DM that easily cuts thru an acoustic fiddle/banjo/guitar jam. Thank you...

Great addition to next guitars

My first Martin was an old D-18. I always thought they had such a good sound that they ought to look prettier. I have a D-18 I made and put tortoise shell binding and heel plate and end piece with snow flake and diamonds and cat eyes inlay on the fret board and snow flakes on the bridge and my own logo on the head stock in mother of pearl. These bridge pins will be a great addition. Most of the guitars I have built I have either sold or given to relatives. This one I have kept for myself. Thank you for these additions.

too large for my Chinese made 12 string guitar..

rather than filing 12 of these to fit, I intend to drill the holes through the bridge slightly larger to accommodate the pins. They look very nice and compliment the rosette of the guitar

Great fit and finish. Like the "look"

These fit nicely in my new (to me) 00-18 custom Martin (2015). Why does Martin put bland, shiny, black plastic pins in a $2K+. guitar? At least use the Waverly Ivoroids (Galalith) w that strangely alluring pattern...Anyway... Generally would go w bone but the Tort. (plastic) looked so inviting. Nice snug fit... Wish that the dalmatian spots would show more once in the bridge.Good fit. Nice heritage (aged) color/ look. Probably get a set of bone pins and compare after a few months of play on these.

Beautiful

Got these for my Martin 0-21 after noticing that Collings was using similar pins on their 01 Traditional series guitars. The look much better than bone or dotted ebony (which I had also tried) on this particular instrument. Were a bit tight and needed to be sanded to sit correctly on the bridge (taped them, put them into the chuck of a drill and slowly removed material with 150 grit paper), but have worked well since then.
