The perfect wood for my projects

By

I bought this piece of fingerboard to use to make winding checks for the fly rods I build...I must say this was the perfect choice...the wood is consistently level and uniform In thickness. There are not any checks in the wood and it is beautiful.....the quality is so much better than I am use to when buying scrap pieces for the same purpose.....
the problem is now ….I want to make an instrument using this piece of wood... go figure....
it is very high quality and worth the minor expense....

I have stocked up on these for practice purposes...inlay work and fret slotting. I might combine it with matching peghead veneer for future projects.

This is a very durable and resistant wood grain. Some may find its natural tone uncomplimentary based on the instruments finish. I really enjoy it, however. Recommended

I just received my mandolin and guitar blanks from granadillo wood, I have never considered this wood before, the price was to good to pass up. The only thing is the thickness is about 3/16, I prefer 1/4” or slightly over. But very good quality.
